It hasn\u2019t exactly been a picture-perfect start to the year for Jason Statham<\/a>. His first new release came back in January with Shelter<\/a>, which got off to a hot start after earning the best reviews for any Statham-led action feature in 10 years<\/a>. The film follows Michael Mason, a man living as a recluse on a remote Scottish island who rescues a girl from the sea, unleashing a perilous chain of events that culminate in an attack on his home that forces him to confront his past. Shelter cost $50 million to make, giving the film a break-even point of around $100 million, but it failed to even earn back its reported budget, grossing only $49 million at the box office. It has since found redemption on VOD platforms like Prime Video<\/a> and Apple TV.<\/p>\n Statham isn\u2019t slowing down, though, even after the woeful box office performance of Shelter. He\u2019s already been tapped to star in Mutiny<\/a>, his next new action thriller set to premiere on August 21. Statham co-stars with Annabelle Wallis<\/a> in the film, who is famous for playing Grace in the popular Netflix crime series, Peaky Blinders<\/a>. This afternoon, Lionsgate<\/a> released the first official trailer for Mutiny, confirming its August premiere date and setting up Statham for a major action comeback this summer. J.P. Davis and Lindsday Michel wrote the script for Mutiny, and Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Richet directed the film. Richet recently directed the 2023 Gerard Butler<\/a>-led actioner, Plane<\/a>. Mutiny will reportedly follow Cole Reed (Statham), a man set to take the fall after his billionaire industrialist crime boss is murdered, leaving him on the run and in the middle of an international conspiracy.
