Tim Tszyu<\/a>\u2019s latest win appears to have tee\u2019d up a clash with the inactive Errol Spence Jr<\/a>, and one of boxing\u2019s top trainers believes that the fight may end in disaster for the latter, who has not fought since 2023.<\/p>\n

Spence outpointed Albania\u2019s Denis Nurja on Sunday, overcoming a cut to set up a summer showdown with \u2018The Truth\u2019, who was a dominant welterweight world champion until a devastating defeat to bitter rival, Terence Crawford, in July \u201923<\/a>, when bidding for the undisputed throne.<\/p>\n

Since that maiden pro defeat, Spence has underdone cataract surgery and was in negotiations to take on Jermell Charlo last year, until talks collapsed.<\/p>\n

However, it is now understood that a meeting with Tszyu is close to being formally announced<\/a>, with Saturday, July 25, being the rumoured fight date.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Boxing Scene<\/a>, Robert Garcia, who trained Anthony Joshua and Nonito Donaire, believes that the three-year lay-off will take its toll on the American, whom he thinks \u2018has nothing left\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe question is, \u2018What Errol Spence will we see?\u2019 Because we haven\u2019t seen him in a while,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, it\u2019s tough to say we\u2019ll see a new Errol Spence. He might not have anything left, and that\u2019s what I think: He has nothing left, and I\u2019ll [pick] Tim Tszyu,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not taking tune-ups because he knows he has nothing left. That tune-up may ruin him. He\u2019s taking that big pay day and that\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n
