A senior NHS England estates lead has visited the construction site of a new community diagnostic centre at Broad Marsh<\/a> in Nottingham, as work continues on a major facility intended to expand local access to tests and reduce pressure on hospital services.<\/p>\n

LeeAnne Green, Strategic Estates Lead at NHS England, toured the site alongside representatives from Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), construction firm Henry Brothers and other project partners. The visit offered an opportunity to review progress on the development, which is due to open in 2027.<\/p>\n

The Broad Marsh Community Diagnostic Centre will be run and staffed by NUH and is expected to deliver up to 140,000 diagnostic tests each year once operational. Facilities of this type are designed to provide a wide range of checks, scans and tests closer to where people live, helping to diagnose conditions earlier and reduce waiting times for patients.<\/p>\n

Community diagnostic centres form part of a national programme by NHS England to increase capacity outside traditional hospital settings, with a focus on improving access and supporting earlier detection of illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and respiratory conditions. The Broad Marsh site is one of a number of new centres planned or under development across the country.<\/p>\n

During the visit, LeeAnne Green said the project represented an important investment in local healthcare infrastructure and would play a key role in delivering diagnostic services across Nottinghamshire.<\/p>\n

She said the tour provided a chance to see first-hand the progress being made on the building and to meet the teams involved in its delivery. She added that there was a clear emphasis on quality, safety and collaboration across the project, alongside a focus on creating a modern, patient-centred environment aimed at improving experiences for both patients and staff.<\/p>\n

The new facility forms part of the wider regeneration of the Broad Marsh area, a site that has been undergoing significant redevelopment following the demolition of the former shopping centre. Once complete, the diagnostic centre is expected to contribute to both healthcare provision and the ongoing transformation of Nottingham city centre.<\/p>\n
