All the buildings were approved for demolition back in 2023.

The scheme, for Crescent Investments and developer Forshaw Group, would serve as an extension of the existing Silkbank Wharf development – another Forshaw Group project, which sits next to the proposed site.

The community pavilion could house shops, restaurants and community spaces and is intended to ‘support the wider regeneration of the Ordsall Waterfront area’.

Feedback from a public consultation last year led to the scheme being revised to offer more public space along the front of Regent Road, better accessibility provided for walkers and cyclists to the Irwell Riverside path, and the introduction of tiered seating at the waterfront.

DLA Architecture director Jonathan Knowles said: ‘Riverside Place is about establishing a new piece of Salford that feels open and genuinely connected to the community, both socially, physically and environmentally.

‘The architecture and public realm are designed to re-establish a strong physical and visual connection to the Irwell, as well as providing 814 much-needed homes. The pavilion is conceived as a civic marker within the masterplan, with retail, hospitality and community uses, ensuring this stretch of waterfront becomes a destination.’

The developer says it expects the project to create more than 1,000 jobs during construction and £67 million in economic value over the three-year build. On completion, the site is projected to bring £24 million into the local economy and support 86 jobs in the area.

Forshaw Group chief executive Lyndon Forshaw said: ‘We have worked to improve our plans following consultation with the local community last year.

‘The final plans submitted are focused on community integration with the existing Ordsall neighbourhood, providing a community pavilion at the heart of the scheme.

‘We have also been able to increase the area of public realm on the Regent Road frontage for all to enjoy and improve the shared amenity space for the new residents within the new residential buildings.’

Salford has a target of building 9,000 new homes across Ordsall, Quays, Pendleton and Charlestown by 2042.

Known as Riverside Place, the project comprises three brick-fronted residential towers of 21, 25 and 34 storeys placed…

[31
6225,6485,6486,1120,181568,96,9060,2447,99876,56,54,55
0":"post-522286","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-arts-and-design","8":"tag-arts","9":"tag-arts-and-design","10":"tag-artsanddesign","11":"tag-design","12":"tag-dla-architecture","13":"tag-entertainment","14":"tag-residential","15":"tag-salford","16":"tag-towers","17":"tag-uk","18":"tag-united-kingdom","19":"tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
