\n The scheme, which was due to begin on March 31, will now start on June 2, and bins are being delivered to homes across the borough.\n<\/p>\n
\n Under the new scheme, every home will receive a small, sealable caddy for their kitchen, a larger food waste bin for outside and a roll of 52 biodegradable caddy liners.\n<\/p>\n
\n Food waste, such as peelings, leftovers, out-of-date items and tea bags will then be able to be placed in the lined caddy and put it in the outside food waste bin which will be collected once a week along with the general recycling bin and green glass box.\n<\/p>\n
\n The changes will be introduced as part of mandatory Government measures, which require all local councils to collect food waste weekly from all residential properties.\n<\/p>\n
\n Previously speaking on the delay, Libby McCollom, cabinet member for resources, said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience this will cause, but please do not start using your new food waste caddy and bin until we get back in touch with the new start date.\n<\/p>\n
