Hull FC have made Warrington Wolves assistant and former Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara their number one target for 2027.<\/p>\n

Sam Burgess insists there\u2019s no distraction at Warrington Wolves despite mounting interest from Hull FC<\/a> in his right-hand man Steve McNamara.<\/p>\n

The Black and Whites have made McNamara their No.1 target to replace John Cartwright, as first reported by Hull Live, with the current Australian coach set to depart the MKM Stadium at the end of the 2026 season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McNamara only linked up with Burgess ahead of the 2026 campaign after leaving Catalans Dragons midway through last year, taking charge of Warrington\u2019s attack – and the partnership has clicked instantly.<\/p>\n

Wire are flying high at the top of Super League and face Leigh Leopards this weekend with a place in the Challenge Cup semi-finals on the line.<\/p>\n

But despite the growing noise, Burgess is relaxed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Steve, I think there\u2019s always going to be speculation,\u201d he told media at a press conference today<\/a>. \u201cEvery head coach role on both sides of the world, his name\u2019s going to be thrown around.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s strong speculation at the moment, but one thing I am sure of is Steve\u2019s commitment to the group. He\u2019s brought so much to the group and he\u2019s fully committed, whatever is going on around him<\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever anything changes, I\u2019ll be the first to know – but for now it\u2019s business as usual.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s on contract for next year – but Steve\u2019s standing in the game, he\u2019s under no illusion that he wants to be a head coach and he sees himself as a head coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere has been a bit of noise around it the last few days, but we\u2019ve dealt really well with it internally and the boys have made a couple of jokes about it.<\/p>\n
