British alternative rockers Enter Shikari have surprise released their eighth studio album \u201cLose Your Self\u201d via So Recordings. Not only did the group just issue that effort through digital means without warning, they\u2019ve also launched the record on CD and vinyl simultaneously as well. Vocalist Rou Reynolds spoke of why the band chose to maintain the wall of secrecy around this record, stating:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to present \u2018Lose Your Self\u2018, and give people the chance to hear a Shikari record like never before \u2013 as a cohesive whole. We want people to go on a proper journey with this album, and see where it takes them.<\/p>\n
No lead up, no singles, and no explanation. Forcing the listener to actually listen, without being drip-fed ideas out of context, or spoon-fed explanations. We simply present it all, for the listener to immerse themself in.<\/p>\n
Releasing in this way was also a decision to not be distracted by chart races, or accolades and \u201cthings\u201d.<\/p>\n
We got the No.1 album on our last record. This is simply about the music being presented in a natural way.<\/p>\n
Despite turning out to be one our darkest and heaviest albums to date, it also preaches hope and offers answers.<\/p>\n
Shikari will always offer hope, because without hope there is no action. We\u2019ll just always offer it with a dose of realism.\u201d<\/p>\n
