<\/p>\nJack Haynes is hoping that the positive signs he saw from Nottinghamshire while away to Somerset can be built on as the Rothesay County Championship returns to Trent Bridge this week.<\/p>\n
Haynes made a first-innings half-century in Taunton, while Joe Clarke and Ben Slater joined him in raising their bats, and Dillon Pennington added a five-wicket haul.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Somerset is a tough place to go and play, and the stats back that up, so it was a positive result from our point of view,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d obviously have liked to have gone on and won, of course, but we still came away with 13 points and a lot of hope that we can win back at Trent Bridge this week.\u201d<\/p>\n
It all added up to what the 25-year-old viewed as a productive start to the summer, and he is hoping for more of the same when Glamorgan visit West Bridgford from tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Head Coach Peter Moores has named a 14-strong squad for the first Division One clash between the sides at Trent Bridge since July 2005.<\/p>\n
Most eye-catchingly for supporters of the Green and Golds, England pair Ben Duckett and Josh Tongue are in the running for a first outing in 2026, as is Australian seamer Fergus O\u2019Neill.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s brilliant to have Ferg back,\u201d smiled Haynes. \u201cHe brings loads of energy on and off the pitch, and we\u2019ve all seen what he can do on the pitch.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully he can put in similar performances to last year, where he really was unplayable at times.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for Glamorgan, despite their newly-promoted tag, Haynes is fully aware of the threat they can pose, and is adamant that they will be welcomed with deserved respect.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe definitely won\u2019t be underestimating them. They had a good game with Yorkshire last week, and we know they\u2019ll be a hungry side, full of good players,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
For Haynes and his teammates, however, the overarching focus remains on themselves, and he is clear about the prevailing emotion in camp with the game so close.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really excited,\u201d said the right-hander, when asked about the mood among the squad. \u201cIt\u2019s always nice to play the first home game in front of our own supporters.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt feels like it\u2019s been a long time since we were here lifting the trophy, so we\u2019re really excited to get going.<\/p>\n
