Question marks over Jarrod Bowen\u2019s West Ham captaincy can be put to bed after he revealed his intervention in a heated dressing room exchange in the 4-0 win over Wolves.<\/p>\n

Tension was in the east London air as the Hammers faced Wolves in a must-win game on Friday night.<\/p>\n

That anxiety was also visible in West Ham\u2019s<\/a> players as an all too familiar pattern played out in the first half.<\/p>\n

Whenever the Hammers have had a chance to climb out of the relegation zone during their revival under Nuno Espirito Santo, they have fallen short.<\/p>\n

Bowen says he stepped in on heated exchange in West Ham win<\/p>\n

It looked like being the same old story when Wolves started the better of the sides at the London Stadium.<\/p>\n

With half-time edging closer, West Ham were fortunate to take a 1-0 lead through the brilliant Konstantinos Mavropanos, assisted by captain Jarrod Bowen<\/a> \u2013 who else?<\/p>\n

Before and after taking the lead, though, the Hammers gave the ball away on several occasions and were lucky Wolves were not more efficient in their attacks.<\/p>\n

To survive in the Premier League<\/a> you need that bit of luck \u2013 but also a fighting spirit that sets you apart from the other sides in the battle.<\/p>\n

And it seems West Ham most definitely have that.<\/p>\n

Because Bowen has revealed he stepped in after a heated dressing room exchange as West Ham show the fight needed to stay up.<\/p>\n

In a refreshingly honest and open interview on Sky Sports, the skipper said West Ham\u2019s players were getting frustrated with one another in the dressing room at half-time, with words exchanged over certain players giving the ball away.<\/p>\n

Bowen said he held his hands up to surrendering possession but then rallied his teammates, telling them to park their frustration and instead stay calm and together.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt half-time I just kind of said to them \u2018let\u2019s just stay calm\u2019 because there was a little bit of frustration from us (towards one another),\u201d Bowen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you know a few people gave the ball away, I gave the ball away, there was a few missed controls and it got a little bit nervy, little bit edgy.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the main message (from me) at half-time was \u2018just stick together as a team, it\u2019s going to be one of those games where three points are vital for us, we\u2019re 45 minutes away from three points that mean the world to us\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we had to stick together and then show our quality a little bit more \u2013 I think we could have been a little bit better in the final third (but we got there).\u201d<\/p>\n

Bowen has seen his leadership and captaincy questioned over the last two seasons.<\/p>\n

The Hammers hero has always led by example whether he wears the armband or not.<\/p>\n

Not only was Bowen back to something like his brilliant best against Wolves with three assists, he was desperately unlucky not to score when he struck a post \u2013 yet again \u2013 and worked his socks off for the team.<\/p>\n

But it was Bowen\u2019s leadership at that crucial moment in the dressing room at half-time that undoubtedly played a key role in the most crucial of victories, putting concerns over his captaincy to bed once and for all.<\/p>\n
