Tadej Poga\u010dar will ride Paris\u2013Roubaix 2026 on a Colnago Y1RS Dark Edition fitted with 35mm-wide Continental GP 5000 S TR tyres that measure 38mm when mounted to his 25mm-wide ENVE SES wheels.<\/p>\n

The reigning World Champion will also run a 56-tooth 1x drivetrain<\/a>. As far as we\u2019re aware, this is only the second time the Slovenian superstar has used 1x in a road race following his win at Milan-San Remo 2026.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Right on the limit

Tyre tech is always the key talking point of Paris-Roubaix, with riders opting for ever wider options in recent years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

32mm has become the de-facto norm, but Poga\u010dar takes this further than anyone yet, opting for 35mm tyres.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When mounted to his ENVE SES wheels, these measure closer to 38mm.<\/p>\n

This setup likely tickles the absolute limit of the UCI\u2019s regulations, which limits a wheel and tyre combo to a maximum diameter of 700mm. A 40mm tyre mounted to a 700c wheel generally sits outside this limit, so a 38mm tyre is likely to be close to this.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It also pushes his Colnago Y1RS\u2019<\/a> tyre clearance to the max, with only a small gap between the crown of the fork and the tyre.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The weather in the run-up to the race and the forecast for Sunday is currently dry, so dusty conditions will prevail at Roubaix. If wetter conditions were expected, the team would likely have to use a narrower tyre.<\/p>\n

His rear tyre is more conventional at 32mm wide, though it again measures wider than the stated width \u2013 closer to 35mm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The tyres are mounted to hookless ENVE SES wheels. He\u2019s running the 60mm deep 6.7 up front and the 56mm deep 4.5 out back.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Poga\u010dar will not run inserts at Paris-Roubaix. An ENVE spokesperson present at the team bus explained that the brand doesn\u2019t recommend using inserts with its wheels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This position stands apart from other riders and teams we\u2019ve spoken to, who value the run-flat security of inserts.<\/p>\n

Another key Roubaix-specific change for Poga\u010dar is the move to 1x.<\/p>\n

The rolling parcours of Roubaix suit 1x, so it\u2019s a common switch among riders for the race, offering a moderate reduction in weight and improved aero performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking to BikeRadar, a team mechanic said the team had tested running 1x throughout December, but no final decision was taken for Roubaix until this week, when Poga\u010dar finally settled on a single chainring.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Poga\u010dar is using a 56t CarbonTi chainring mounted to 165mm long Dura-Ace R9200 cranks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With no clutch, Shimano doesn\u2019t officially endorse 1x with its Dura-Ace road groupsets, so a K-Edge chain catcher is used to improve retention on the cobbled sectors.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also switched from his previous Frames and Gear direct-mount Shimano hanger to a Carbon-Ti option \u2013 in keeping with the rest of the tasty lightweight mods on his bike.<\/p>\n
