The approval followed nearly four years of negotiation with the local authority.<\/p>\n<p>The practice says its design draws on the character of nearby 1930s vernacular housing and is influenced by the work of Arts and Crafts architect CFA Voysey, adding that it \u2018reinterprets traditional motifs for modern living\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/new-practice-smith-maloney-hillier-architects-fees-must-rise-to-avoid-decline-in-standards\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bristol-based<\/a> firm said: \u2018The chimney form to the terraces provides stack ventilation and daylight to the centre of the plan. On the semi\u2011detached homes, it provides a landing point for roof\u2011level accommodation.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The scheme, next to the A38, retains a number of protected trees, which are kept within a new green and \u2018safe, playable spaces for families\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The extension to the existing pub will offer additional community\u2011focused facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Colin Pemble of planning consultant<a href=\"https:\/\/aspect360.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Aspect 360<\/a> said: \u2018The proposal complied with the presumption in favour of sustainable development [in the National Planning Policy Framework].
