The fan also revealed that there are guitar solos in some of the tracks, there are screams at the end of \u2018Moth\u2019, and they feel that the song \u2018Real\u2019 is sonically similar to Slipknot\u2019s 2014 album, \u2018.5: The Gray Chapter\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Later, they said they \u201clike it a lot\u201d after their third listen. \u201cJust don\u2019t expect metal songs,\u201d they added. When asked if it was \u201cvery electronic or anything\u201d, they replied: \u201cNot very electronic no. Hard to name a band with the same sound, but the vibe is definitely Slipknot except no screams, no double bass drum.\u201d<\/p>\n

The listener wrote: If you like [2004\u2019s \u2018Circle\u2019 and 2022\u2019s \u2018Adderall\u2019], you will like the album (also \u2018Prelude 3.0\u2019), but they don\u2019t have the same \u2018metal tones\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone else queried about \u201cthe Radiohead<\/a> comparison that\u2019s been mentioned just about every time this is brought up\u201d, to which the author of the post responded: \u201cSome elements here and there, but overall not that much. The first thing that I thought was that most of these songs would really fit on [2004 album] \u2018Vol.3 The Subliminal Verses\u2019. They have the same vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another user asked about the previous references to Pink Floyd<\/a>. \u201cI could see the Pink Floyd comparison actually!\u201d the listener wrote back. \u201cThey have the same \u2018slowness\u2019.\u201d They also shared that there was \u201cnothing heavy\u201d on the LP.<\/p>\n

As for standout moments on the album, they said: \u201c\u2018Moth\u2019, \u2018Dirge\u2019, \u2018Toad\u2019 and my favourite is \u2018Juliette\u2019. But they are all a lot better than I thought they would be! \u201911th March\u2019 is like a long intro, really slow and \u2018U Can\u2019t Stop This\u2019 is an outro (shortest song I believe).\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the Reddit thread, a fan praised the \u201cgorgeous pressing\u201d of \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019.<\/p>\n

A user also asked: \u201cDo you hear anything that has been used later on in Slipknot?\u201d The listener replied: \u201cI didn\u2019t hear any reused riffs, but I haven\u2019t listened to the last two albums much.\u201d<\/p>\n

On X\/Twitter, another fan said they had bought \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019 early, too. \u201cYou definitely can\u2019t say it\u2019s Slipknot, and yeah it\u2019s experimental but there\u2019s no \u2018Radiohead vibe\u2019 like Corey said,\u201d they shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is interesting, though, is how far removed it is from everything they\u2019ve done over so many years, both as a band and separately. If it weren\u2019t for Taylor\u2019s voice, you could say it\u2019s another band altogether.<\/p>\n

Someone else posted a track-by-track guide on Reddit<\/a> after their first listen, and summarised: \u201cDoes it sound like Radiohead? Not in the slightest, to be honest. It goes a bit shoegazey, and with Deftones<\/a> on a monstrous resurgence right now, I wonder if that prompted the album\u2019s release.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes it sound like Slipknot? If we try to disassociate from Corey\u2019s unmistakable vocals, it\u2019s clearly not a Slipknot album. In places it skirts a little close to \u2018weird\u2019 Slipknot (\u2018My Pain\u2019, \u2018XIX\u2019, \u2018If Rain Is What You Want\u2019) but it\u2019s good that they were clearly trying to do something different, because any time it does border on Slipknot, it\u2019s obvious that half the band aren\u2019t there.<\/p>\n

Jim [Root, guitarist] is on fire here. His versatility runs throughout, to the point that I\u2019d consider this to be his record, tbh. As you can probably gather, I\u2019m not a fan of Crahan having an elevated stake in the decision making\u2026 and an actual drummer would have elevated this record quite a bit (it\u2019s the big thing lacking here).\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about finally releasing the long-awaited project for Record Store Day, Slipknot said in a recent statement: \u201cWe knew we were heading down a different creative path, entirely apart from Slipknot, and we followed it eagerly. We called the project \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019 as a tribute to this experimental spirit.<\/p>\n
