Dr Pimple Popper,<\/a> Sandra Lee, has revealed she suffered a stroke while filming her TV show.<\/a> The TV star, best known for treating patients with facial and skin disorders, noticed something wasn’t quite right while filming.<\/p>\n

It was in November last year when Dr Sandra began noticing something felt off. In the promotional trailer for the second season of her show, Dr Pimple Popper: Breaking Out, somebody is seen dialling for the emergency services, before an ambulance drives to the medical facility.<\/p>\n

Dr Lee’s staff were later informed of the severity of her health, and she was seen tearing up, talking about the incident. In a new interview, she recalled the moment she first noticed that things weren’t right for her.<\/a><\/p>\n

“It happened while I was filming the show,” she told People magazine<\/a>. She added: “I had what I thought was a hot flash. I got super sweaty and didn\u2019t feel like myself.”<\/p>\n

Dr Lee went to her parents’ home shortly after filming and said that she felt “restless” throughout the night and experienced shooting pains, leaving her unable to sleep. During the night, she noted having a “tough” time walking down the stairs.<\/p>\n

But come morning, she instantly knew that the condition had become serious after her hand would “slowly collapse” when she held it out. “I noticed that I had a tough time articulating and just enunciating. I thought, ‘Am I having a stroke?'” Dr Lee said.<\/p>\n

Dr Lee’s dad, who is also a dermatologist, suggested she head straight to the emergency department. It was here that an MRI scan revealed she had suffered from an ischemic stroke, where blood vessels supplying the brain are blocked, and cells are deprived of oxygen and nutrients.<\/p>\n

Recalling the moment that she was informed she’d suffered a stroke, Dr Lee added: “It was just a shock. As a physician, I couldn’t deny that I had slurred speech, that I was having weakness on one side, but I was like, ‘Well, this is a dream, right?'” Dr Lee added: “What essentially happened. is, I had part of my brain that died.”<\/p>\n

The Stroke Association states that the damage to the brain cells can affect how the body works, as well as how you think, feel and communicate. Around 85 per cent of strokes across the United Kingdom<\/a> are ischaemic strokes, while the remaining 15 per cent are due to bleeding in or around the brain, known as a haemorrhagic stroke.<\/p>\n

According to the NHS<\/a>, a stroke occurs when blood stops flowing to a part of your brain. It can affect speech and movement and take a long time to recover. A stroke needs urgent medical help in a hospital because it can be life-threatening. The main symptoms of a stroke can happen suddenly. They may include:<\/p>\n

Face weakness \u2013 one side of your face may droop (fall) and it might be hard to smileArm weakness \u2013 you may not be able to fully lift both arms and keep them there because of weakness or numbness in one armSpeech problems \u2013 you may slur your words or sound confused<\/p>\n

The easiest way to remember these symptoms is the word FAST. This stands for: face, arms, speech and time to call 999. There are other signs that you or someone else is having a stroke. These include:<\/p>\n

Weakness or numbness down one side of your bodyBlurred vision or loss of sight in one or both eyesFinding it difficult to speak or think of wordsConfusion and memory lossFeeling dizzy or falling overA severe headacheFeeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting)<\/p>\n
