\n InverArty was formed four years ago as a self-supporting group and recently launched a collection of their best work at the local gallery.\n<\/p>\n
\n After working tirelessly right up until the exhibition’s launch day to put the finishing touches on the showcase, the group were overwhelmed by the response they received from the public, their friends, and family.\n<\/p>\n

\n Member Mary Currie, from Inverkip, has been part of the group since its foundation.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: “We are very proud of the exhibition and we have been delighted with the response from everyone who came along on our launch day.\n<\/p>\n
\n “There were a lot of nerves in the build-up but it all went great.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It was a lovely event. The group started after everything opened up after Covid and it has been going ever since.”\n<\/p>\n

\n She added: “There is a mixture of people, some with experience and people like myself who hadn’t done art since school.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We all come along, and take it in turn to lead and share ideas.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We are a very supportive group, there is a real sense of friendship and community.”\n<\/p>\n
\n InverArty first met at the Beacon Arts Centre in 2022 under the guidance of Glasgow artist Beth Shapeero, before moving to the Wyllieum last April.\n<\/p>\n

\n The aim of the group, which meets once a week in the upstairs space, is to explore different avenues of art, operating mainly through a programme of self-led classes.\n<\/p>\n

\n They also take inspiration from outside tutors who come along to lead sessions, and visit art galleries and exhibitions together.\n<\/p>\n

\n The exhibition is giving the members their first opportunity to show how their styles have developed and progressed.\n<\/p>\n
\n InverArty would like to thank the Wyllieum staff for all their support, and have said a special thank-you to Margaret, who gave up her time to open the gallery.\n<\/p>\n

\n The exhibition features contributions from Sheena Beaton, Mary Currie, Ruth Clark, Caroline Duncan, Aileen Henry, David McCorkindale, Alice MacGillivray, Roisin McPherson, AJ Marquez, and Moira Rourke.\n<\/p>\n
\n The work included self-portrait and landscapes, as well as illustrations of world leader Nelson Mandela, using mixed media, acrylics, pencil, charcoal, watercolours and oil on boards and canvas.\n<\/p>\n
\n The InverArty exhibition runs in the Wyllieum Art Gallery’s upstairs space until this weekend.\n<\/p>\n
