Carlos Tuimavave, a member of the Hull FC side that won back-to-back Challenge Cups, has confirmed his retirement with an emotional message shared on social media.<\/p>\n

Still only 34, the centre has called time on his career having last played for Featherstone Rovers<\/a> in March 2025 but it was with Hull FC who he is best remembered during his time in England.<\/p>\n

The former Samoan international joined the Black and Whites from Newcastle Knights in 2016 and quickly become a fan favourite, making 25 appearances in his maiden season but more importantly being part of the side that lifted the Challenge Cup at Wembley.<\/p>\n

Tuimavave had an even better second season as he scored 15 in 28 whilst again helping Hull FC win the Challenge Cup, the club\u2019s most recent piece of silverware.<\/p>\n

Over nine seasons in West Hull, Tuimavave scored 58 tries in 182 appearances but injuries began to affect him and that saw him make the move to Featherstone.<\/p>\n

Speaking in late 2024, he revealed that he had turned down Super League clubs<\/a> in order to sign a two-year deal with Featherstone, though he only played five games before injury struck again and he has now announced his retirement from the sport.<\/p>\n

Hull FC icon Carlos Tuimavave calls time on career<\/p>\n

Taking to social media, Tuimavave shared a message to confirm news of his retirement with thanks paid to his former clubs, including Hull FC.<\/p>\n

The New Zealand-born centre said: \u201cAfter 14 years in professional rugby league, and now returning home, I\u2019d like to officially announce my retirement from professional rugby league.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a young age I knew I wanted to be a rugby league player, and to make my debut for my hometown club the New Zealand Warriors was a dream come true.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a brief sting at the Newcastle Knights before spending the best part of a decade with Hull FC in the English Super League. Thank you for allowing me to represent your great clubs, it was truly an honour and privilege.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tuimavave then turned his attention to the sport and his family as he thanked them for their endless support.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe game of rugby league has given me so much, the friendships, the battles, the dressing rooms, the life lessons and all the memories along the way. I will cherish them forever.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo my wife and kids, yous packed up your lives and moved to the other side of the world for me. Through the ups and downs, injuries and setbacks, yous have been by my side every step of the way. None of this would have been possible without yous and I\u2019ll be forever grateful for your love and sacrifice.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso to my parents and siblings, for always instilling the belief in me from a young age and for your love, support and guidance throughout my journey, thank you.<\/p>\n
