{"id":532009,"date":"2026-04-15T10:38:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T10:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/532009\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T10:38:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T10:38:09","slug":"jensen-interceptor-gtx-to-be-revealed-in-spring-with-screaming-v8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/532009\/","title":{"rendered":"Jensen Interceptor GTX to be revealed in spring with screaming V8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-news\/used-cars-used-car-buying-guides\/used-car-buying-guide-jensen-interceptor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jensen Interceptor<\/a> is to be reborn as a new British-built, V8-powered GT, 50 years after production of the iconic original\u00a0ended.<\/p>\n<p>Banbury-based Jensen\u00a0International Automotive (JIA) has confirmed its new model, due to be revealed in the coming months, will be called the Interceptor GTX.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It will be JIA&#8217;s first clean-sheet design, the firm having previously specialised\u00a0in restoring and modernising Interceptors, creating restomods such as\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-review\/jia\/interceptor-r\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Interceptor\u00a0R<\/a>. It will be hand-built\u00a0in \u201cultra-low\u201d numbers and\u00a0therefore\u00a0probably command a very high price.<\/p>\n<p>It is claimed to be an \u201cultra-high-performance\u201d, luxury proposition that will offer a fully analogue driving experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This suggests that it will use a manual gearbox and the cabin will be flooded with physical controls and switches, similar to the original 1960s Interceptor.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"JIA Interceptor teaser\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/jia_interceptor_reborn_teaser_pic.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>While further details have yet to be revealed, Autocar understands the new car will be powered by the engine from the latest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-review\/chevrolet\/corvette-c8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chevrolet Corvette<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Corvette\u2019s 6.2-litre V8 puts out 495bhp and 452lb ft of torque as standard, but JIA said\u00a0its\u00a0new car&#8217;s powertrain will be \u201cbespoke\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The original Interceptor used a\u00a06.3-litre big-block Chrysler V8, giving it more than 250bhp and a top speed of nearly 140mph.<\/p>\n<p>The as-yet-unnamed JIA\u00a0GT will sit on a lightweight aluminium chassis,\u00a0likely as part of an effort to give it the highest power-to-weight ratio possible.<\/p>\n<p>While its design has yet to be revealed, the first official picture confirms that it will follow a similar philosophy to the original, with a long bonnet, raked roofline and a low-slung stance.<\/p>\n<p>Managing director David Duerden said JIA is\u00a0\u201ctaking the theme of the luxury British GT to fresh, thoroughly modern heights\u201d with a car that \u201cwill stand proudly as a completely all-new car in its own right\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A release date has yet to be confirmed\u00a0but, given that JIA is keen to highlight the car\u2019s British roots, a debut at the\u00a0Goodwood\u00a0Festival of Speed in July seems plausible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Jensen Interceptor is to be reborn as a new British-built, V8-powered GT, 50 years after production of&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":532010,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[84,59,56,54,55],"class_list":{"0":"post-532009","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-business","8":"tag-business","9":"tag-gb","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom","12":"tag-unitedkingdom"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/532009","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=532009"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/532009\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/532010"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=532009"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=532009"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=532009"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
