Scott Mills<\/a> and his husband Sam Vaughan have been spotted out and about for the first time since the former radio<\/a> host was fired from the BBC.<\/a><\/p>\n Late last month,\u00a0the radio presenter<\/a>, 53,\u00a0was fired from the national broadcaster\u00a0<\/a>following allegations over his \u2018personal conduct\u2019, which allegedly related to a \u2018historic relationship dating back more than 10 years\u2019.<\/p>\n It was then revealed that he\u2019d been let go after being the subject of a complaint regarding a historic police investigation into \u2018serious sexual offences against a boy under 16\u2019, reported to have taken place between 1997 and 2000. <\/p>\n However, the case was dropped around seven years ago due to a lack of evidence.<\/p>\n Despite this, outgoing director general Tim Davie told BBC staff a few days later that\u00a0it was \u2018very clear\u2019 Mills had to be fired after receiving \u2018new information\u2019\u00a0<\/a>about him.<\/p>\n Now, Mills and Vaughan \u2014 who have been married since 2024<\/a> \u2014 have been seen out for a walk with their dog Teddy, the first time the couple has been spotted since the news broke. <\/p>\n \t\t \t\t \t\t Mills looked almost unrecognisable without his trademark cheerfulness, appearing solemn and subdued as they walked along. <\/p>\n Both men were dressed in nondescript clothing and caps, with matching dark sunglasses to conceal their faces. <\/p>\n Mills not only\u00a0lost his slot at Radio 1\u2019s Breakfast presenter<\/a>, but has been\u00a0replaced as a Eurovision commentator<\/a>\u00a0and had a plaque honouring him at the Fleet Services bridge on the M3 taken down<\/a>. <\/p>\n He has only spoken out publicly once since he was fired, releasing a statement which read: \u2018An allegation was made against me in 2016 of a historic sexual offence which was the subject of a police investigation in which I fully cooperated and responded to in 2018.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018As the police have stated, a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined that the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges.<\/p>\n \u2018Since the investigation related to an allegation that dates back nearly 30 years and the police investigation was closed seven years ago, I hope the public and the media will understand and respect my wish not to make any further public comment.\u2019<\/p>\n A BBC spokesperson previously said of Mills\u2019 firing: \u2018Scott Mills had a long career across the BBC, he was hugely popular and we know the news this week has come as a shock and surprise to many.<\/p>\n \u2018We also recognise there\u2019s been much speculation in the media and online since Monday. We hope people understand that there is a limit to what we can say because we have to be mindful of the rights of those involved.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018What we can confirm is that in recent weeks, we obtained new information relating to Scott and we spoke directly with him. As a result, the BBC acted decisively in line with our culture and values, and terminated his contracts on Friday March 27.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018Separately, we can confirm the BBC was made aware in 2017 of the existence of an ongoing police investigation, which was subsequently closed in 2019 with no arrest or charge being made.
