Oli Sykes<\/a> has shared footage of himself recording some deathcore screaming for Bring Me The Horizon<\/a>\u2018s 20th anniversary re-recording of their debut album, \u2018Count Your Blessings\u2019<\/a>. Watch below.<\/p>\n

The Sheffield band have \u201creactivated\u201d the 2006 record by making it \u201csharper, heavier, and more vital than ever\u201d. Titled \u2018Count Your Blessings | Repented\u2019, the forthcoming project is described as a \u201crecontextualisation\u201d of the original, rather than a retrospective release.<\/p>\n

Sykes and co. brought their then-signature deathcore sound to a global audience on their first studio effort, with singles including \u2018Pray For Plagues\u2019, \u2018Slow Dance\u2019 and \u2018A Lot Like Vegas\u2019.<\/p>\n

Now, the frontman has posted a behind-the-scenes video of himself re-recording the album in the studio. Here, he delivers some deathcore screaming that characterised Bring Me\u2019s early material.<\/p>\n

\u201cTook me a minute to work out how to do some of this shit again,\u201d Sykes wrote in the caption about returning to the challenging vocal technique.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery excited to share CYB repented with u. I think we did you all proud. It\u2019s so nice to see all the love and nostalgia too thank you so much \ud83d\udda4\ud83d\udda4\ud83d\udda4.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clip sees him break off from the mic to laugh, clear his throat, and get frustrated after making an error with the \u201cwrong time\u201d. He later adds: \u201cShut the fuck up.\u201d After recording one last take, Sykes says: \u201cThat\u2019s got to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the comments section, one fan wrote: \u201cI\u2019m so scared & concerned for his voice \ud83d\ude05.\u201d Another said: \u201cAnd just like that\u2026. We are so back.\u201d Someone else posted: \u201cTake care of our favourite vocal cords, I mean it \u203c\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fontaines D.C.<\/a> also expressed their love for the video by sharing two love heart emojis. It comes after the Dublin band mixed BMTH\u2019s \u2018Can You Feel My Heart\u2019 with Nirvana\u2018s \u2018Heart-Shaped Box\u2019 for a live radio session<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n

As NME noted in 2019<\/a>, \u2018Count Your Blessings\u2019 \u201cattracted as much derision as it did celebration\u201d following its release in \u201906. Sykes later told us that Bring Me \u201cwere a very divisive band at that time\u201d<\/a>, and remembered the \u201cscary\u201d and \u201cinsane\u201d experience of being bottled at Reading 2008.<\/p>\n

Since their deathcore beginnings, Bring Me have flicked between genres, become more mainstream, and earned two UK Number One albums with \u2018Amo\u2019<\/a> (2019) and \u2018Post Human: Survival Horror\u2019<\/a> (2020). In a five-star review of the former<\/a>, NME praised the group\u2019s \u201cdiversity in sound, proof that they can do what they want and get away with it\u201d.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Halsey revealed that Bring Me The Horizon had taught her to \u201cscream on a record\u201d<\/a>. She explained: \u201cYou can\u2019t ask for a better person to coach you through that. Now I do it in the show, live every night, which is awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u2018Count Your Blessings | Repented\u2019 tracklist is reimagined with a new sense of intensity, with the band leaning into the raw edges seen in the initial release \u2013 revisiting them with 20 years more experience under their belt as well as more expansive, modern production.<\/p>\n

\u2018Liquor & Lost Love\u2019 also appears under its original working title \u2018Dragon Slaying\u2019. The album is due for release on July 10.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the project, Bring Me The Horizon have also announced a landmark performance at Manchester\u2019s B.E.C. Arena, as part of Outbreak<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dubbed \u2018Outbreak Presents: Count Your Blessings | Repented\u2019, the group will use that gig to play the album in its entirety for the first time, and also break out some other material from the era.<\/p>\n

Co-curated with Outbreak, the gig will see Bring Me The Horizon joined by support acts Static Dress<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Dying Wish<\/a>. Find ticket details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

BMTH recently brought their new\u00a0L.I.V.E. In S\u00e3o Paulo\u00a0concert film to cinemas worldwide<\/a> for two days only. The movie, co-directed by Sykes, has been described as an \u201cimmersive, multi-angle experience\u201d. \u201cL.I.V.E.\u201d stands for \u201cLive Immersive Virtual Experiment\u201d.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a glowing, five-star review<\/a>,\u00a0NME\u00a0hailed Bring Me\u2019s big screen project as \u201ca love letter to their fans and statement of greatness\u201d. It added: \u201cWith a show that follows the post-apocalyptic arc of their\u00a0ongoing \u2018Post Human\u2019 album series<\/a>, this film could have buckled under the weight of that lofty concept. Instead, we get a tastefully curated and constantly enthralling rollercoaster ride.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Speaking\u00a0to\u00a0NME at Reading 2025<\/a>, Sykes revealed that 12 more songs could be arriving at some point as part of the \u2018Director\u2019s Cut\u2019 of their latest album, \u2018Post Human: Nex Gen\u2019<\/a> \u2013 although it may take a while, as he has become\u00a0the father of twins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe music will come, but it\u2019s just not the be-all and end-all,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re realising that we don\u2019t have to put another record out; we just put one out. Most bands would go away for two years, have an actual break. You don\u2019t have to do this, but I want to and I enjoy it. If it doesn\u2019t happen, then it doesn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group released a ravey but heavy collab with US musician, DJ and producer Illenium, \u2018Slave To The Rithim\u2019<\/a>, earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Bring Me will embark on their 2026 \u2018Ascension Program 2\u2019 North American tour later this month<\/a>. They\u2019ll also make appearances at\u00a0this year\u2019s Rock For People<\/a>,\u00a0Nova Rock<\/a>,\u00a0Tons Of Rock<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Sick New World<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bring Me The Horizon are set to headline Sziget 2026<\/a> in Budapest in August alongside Florence + The Machine<\/a>,\u00a0Lewis Capaldi<\/a>,\u00a0Twenty One Pilots<\/a>\u00a0and more.<\/p>\n
