\n\tParis-based Indie Sales<\/a> has boarded \u201cQuo Vadis, Aida? \u2013 The Missing Part,\u201d the sequel to Jasmila \u017dbani\u0107\u2019s Oscar and BAFTA-nominated movie which has just started shooting Bosnia and Herzegovina. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe company will launch international sales on the sequel at the Cannes Market. The project is expected to be delivered in Spring 2027.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe sequel picks up in the immediate aftermath of the fall of Srebrenica in 1995. Aida, receiving word that her sons \u2013 who were taken by Serbian forces \u2014 may be alive and held in a camp, launches a desperate search through a refugee center crowded with thousands of displaced women. As hope collides with silence, the women come to the realization that no outside help is coming unless they help themselves. Led by Aida, they confront the injustice and deceptions of a political system built on backroom deals with war criminals. <\/p>\n

\n\tJasna \u0110uri\u010di\u0107, who won the European Film Award for best actress for her portrayal of Aida in the original film, returns in the English-speaking lead role. She is joined by an international cast, including British actor Simon McBurney (\u201cMission: Impossible \u2013 Rogue Nation\u201d), Irish actor Liam Cunningham (\u201cGame of Thrones\u201d), Belgian actor Arieh Worthalter (\u201cThe Goldman Case\u201d) and German actor Dmitrij Schaad (Killing Eve), alongside regional cast.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u017dbani\u0107 won the European Film Award for both best Film and best director in 2021 for Quo Vadis, Aida?, which premiered at Venice in 2020, was sold globally by Indie Sales and was nominated for best international feature at the Oscars in 2021. \u017dbani\u0107 had previously won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale 2006 with her debut feature \u201cGrbavica.\u201d More recently, she directed an episode of HBO\u2019s acclaimed series \u201cThe Last of Us,\u201d and her TV show \u201cI Know Your Soul\u201d premiered at Venice in 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\tNicolas Eschbach, CEO and co-founder of Indie Sales and Indie Prod, said the sequel \u201cbuilds on Jasmila \u017dbani\u0107\u2019s acclaimed work with a remarkable focus on sorority and an unflinching pursuit of justice.\u201d He called it \u201can intimate yet globally resonant story, a film more than ever necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe sequel is produced by Deblokada in Bosnia and Herzegovina; and co-produced by Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion in Austria; Topkapi in the Netherlands; Razor Film in Germany; Madants in Poland; Indie Prod in France; Woodz in Croatia; Plattform in Sweden; and Artikulacija in Montenegro.<\/p>\n
