Motorola’s upcoming Razr Fold<\/a> now has a price tag, due to a preorder page<\/a> that went live on the company’s UK site. It’s listed at \u00a31,800 for the lily white and blackened blue models with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage; there are no other storage options. It also includes the Moto Pen Ultra accessory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Orders will be shipped on May 6.<\/p>\n

Additionally, through this preorder form, Motorola is offering a free Moto Watch and a pair of Moto Buds Loop, as well as a \u00a3220 discount applied at checkout through May 3, bringing the price down to \u00a31,580.<\/p>\n

That \u00a31,800 base price converts to $2,443 in the US, which seems pretty steep and may not be what it ends up costing. To compare, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7<\/a> with the same 512GB of storage starts at \u00a32,000 in the UK but is currently available from Samsung in the US for $1,800, down from $2,200. The Google Pixel 10 Fold<\/a>, also with 512GB, goes for \u00a31,869 in the UK. At Google’s US online store, it currently costs $1,619.<\/p>\n

With memory prices rising<\/a>\u00a0due to a worldwide shortage of components used to make RAM, it’s hard to predict what the Razr Fold will cost in the US.<\/p>\n

However, there’s clearly an appetite for expensive foldable phones<\/a>, as shown by the $2,900 Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold<\/a> that\u00a0sold out in minutes<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0stopped being offered for sale<\/a>\u00a0after three months (it’s\u00a0due to return soon<\/a>). But it’s more likely that the Razr Fold will be priced comparatively to the other two-panel folding phones.<\/p>\n

We got our\u00a0first hands-on<\/a>\u00a0with the book-style foldable Razr at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in January.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“In my hand, the Razr Fold felt similar to the Z Fold 7 in terms of its sleekness,” wrote CNET Senior Reporter Abrar Al-Heeti. “The incremental size-up compared with Samsung’s and Google’s foldables is hardly noticeable, but it should place it safely within their orbit.”<\/p>\n
