\n\tThe latest cop series being developed by CBS<\/a> will star \u201990s and early 2000s television royalty: Matt LeBlanc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe network has ordered a development room for a cop series featuring the former Friends star called Flint, CBS executives revealed at a press conference on Wednesday. If it\u2019s ordered down the line, the show from 24 showrunner Evan Katz will mark LeBlanc\u2019s first return to broadcast since the CBS sitcom Man With a Plan<\/a>, which ended in 2020 after four seasons.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe show is about a burnt-out LAPD detective on the verge of retirement, who\u2019s blindsided when the city extends his service by five years,\u201d explained CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach at a press briefing for CBS\u2019 2026-2027 primetime lineup. \u201cDetermined to get fired, he breaks rules and disobeys orders, which to his dismay makes him an even better cop.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tReisenbach added that the show, which is also being executive produced by LeBlanc, is \u201ca smart, character-driven premise that has a really distinctive tone.\u201d If ordered to series, Flint would be shot in L.A. and at the earliest would arrive for the 2027-2028 season.<\/p>\n

\n\tCBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television are involved in the development process on the series.<\/p>\n

\n\tLeBlanc\u2019s Man With a Plan, created by Jackie and Jeff Filgo, was also executive produced by LeBlanc. At the time, LeBlanc said he enjoyed working more, albeit with shorter working hours, due to the multicamera sitcom format of the show. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI have a family and the hours are shorter. I like the work week of a\u00a0multicam; you rehearse all week and then shoot in front of a live audience,\u201d he said in 2016<\/a>, the year the show premiered.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s like being part of an ensemble theater company.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter shooting to stardom over the course of 10 seasons on Friends, LeBlanc starred in a short-lived spinoff called Joey on NBC, which ended in 2006. <\/p>\n
