Elusive substance could be made of black holes from a different UNIVERSE, scientist claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Dark matter could be even weirder than we thought, as a scientist claims the elusive substance could be made of black holes from a different universe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Astronomers believe that dark matter makes up around 27 per cent of the universe&#8217;s mass and<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-15498643\/dark-matter-NASA-detailed-maps-elusive-substance.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> holds galaxies together like gravitational glue.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Most scientists believe the strange material is made of an undiscovered particle that doesn&#8217;t absorb or reflect normal light.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But a new theory\u00a0suggests that dark matter might really be made of ancient black holes that existed before the Big Bang.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">These &#8216;relic&#8217; black holes from another universe are small, packed with mass, and would be totally invisible except for their gravitational tug.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">According to Professor Enrique Gaztanaga, from the University of Portsmouth, this makes them the prime suspect in the search for dark matter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The key to this bold suggestion is the suggestion that there was a universe before our current one, and the Big Bang was just the transition between the two.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Professor Gaztanaga says: &#8216;The idea is that dark matter may not be a new particle, but instead a population of black holes formed in a previous collapsing phase and bounce of the Universe.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-2be4455a2c643429\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/107908291-15734741-image-a-7_1776243279118.jpg\" height=\"358\" width=\"634\" alt=\"\" class=\"blkBorder img-share\" style=\"max-width:100%\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p class=\"imageCaption\">The mysterious substance known as dark matter could really be made up of black holes from another universe, according to a scientist\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">According to the most common theory, the universe began as an infinitely dense point known as a &#8216;singularity&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">This singularity then exploded out in a rapid phase of expansion known as inflation, the lingering energy from which we can still see as the Cosmic Microwave Background.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">However, some scientists don&#8217;t like the idea of a singularity because their infinitely dense interiors appear to break down the fundamental rules of physics as we know them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">To get around this issue, Professor Gaztanaga suggests <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-5122617\/New-theory-claims-WASNT-Big-Bang.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">we might live in a &#8216;bouncing&#8217; universe.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">According to this view, <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-10777957\/Scientists-predict-universe-start-shrinking-remarkably-soon.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the universe collapsed in on itself<\/a>\u00a0at the end of its previous phase, falling inwards to an enormously, but not infinitely, dense point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">As the universe became more and more dense, it eventually hit a point where it &#8216;bounced&#8217;, rushing outwards in a period of inflation to form the universe we currently live in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;The Big Bang corresponds to a bounce from a previous collapsing phase, rather than the absolute beginning of everything,&#8217; Professor Gaztanaga told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;So it is the start of the expansion we observe, but not necessarily the beginning of time itself.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>   <img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-cedbe5a9c1e2cf5f\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/107908203-15734741-image-a-5_1776242859070.jpg\" height=\"490\" width=\"634\" alt=\"According to this theory, the Big Bang was not the start of the universe but simply a transition from a previous universe's collapse to our current one.
