<\/p>\nSt Helens have picked up more than their fair share of injuries this season so far<\/p>\n
St Helens’ Lewis Murphy walks off the field with an injury against Catalans Dragons.<\/p>\n
St Helens will be without Lewis Murphy for an extended period, Paul Rowley has confirmed.<\/p>\n
Murphy has struggled with injuries since arriving at the Brewdog Stadium ahead of the 2025 season and so far in his St Helens career he has been restricted to just 18 appearances in all competitions.<\/p>\n
He has made an impact in those games, scoring 11 tries in the process, but it will be some time before he has the opportunity to add to that tally.<\/p>\n
The winger dislocated his elbow in last week’s Challenge Cup win over Catalans Dragons and Rowley has confirmed that he’s expected to be missing until June, now.<\/p>\n
“He’ll be a couple of months I think,” Rowley said in his pre-match press conference.<\/p>\n
The head coach also gave an update on the continued absence of both Shane Wright and Curtis Sironen, who are expected to return to supplement the back-row in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
“Siro [Curtis Sironen] has had terrible luck for the start of the season and pre-season, but hopefully when he returns in a couple of weeks it will be the start of some prolonged games for him,” he said. “Shane is just another week on the back of his HIA, he took a bit of a knock so the HIA was irrelevant, he just needed a couple of games off.”<\/p>\n
There has been some good news for the Saints this week, though, with captain Matty Lees returning to the fold tonight to take on Hull FC. However, it remains to be seen if he will play.<\/p>\n
“It’s a long awaited return and the start of his journey back to the peak of his powers,” the head coach said on the return of the England international. “It has seemed a long time and I think the other injuries we have as well, he’d become a forgotten man.<\/p>\n
“Fair credit to him, he’s done everything right and he’s been really aggressive in how he’s gone about his business.
