Bryan Cranston Calls Out Shia LaBeouf<\/p>\n

One thing I love about celebs is that they\u2019re not afraid to get a little messy every now and then. However, there\u2019s throwing shade, and then there\u2019s whatever Bryan Cranston<\/a> just did in this interview.<\/p>\n For context, Bryan and his Malcolm in the Middle costar, Frankie Muniz<\/a>, are currently promoting the show\u2019s reboot series, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair. And, this week, the duo sat down with Esquire<\/a> to answer some questions about their careers.<\/p>\n At one point in the interview, Bryan asked Frankie to name a TV or movie role he wished he hadn\u2019t passed on. This prompted Frankie to mention that he was initially set to star in the 2003 movie Holes, which is based on the 1998 novel of the same name.<\/p>\n The story follows a boy called Stanley Yelnats IV, who is wrongly convicted of theft and sent to Camp Green Lake, a brutal Texas juvenile detention center, where he discovers truths about his cursed family history. Frankie explained that he was \u201c100%\u201d signed on to star as Stanley, but then the first Agent Cody Banks<\/a> movie was greenlit, and he chose to do that instead.<\/p>\n As we all know, fellow former-child-star Shia LaBeouf<\/a> wound up taking his place in Holes, and the starring role helped launch his movie career in the 2000s.<\/p>\n With this in mind, Frankie questioned how his career might have played out differently had he chosen to do Holes instead of Agent Cody Banks, which prompted Bryan to make some pretty brutal comments.<\/p>\n \u201cRight. You could\u2019ve ended up with Shia LaBeouf\u2019s life,\u201d Bryan said, looking right into the camera and letting out a sarcastic whistle.<\/p>\n \u201cKeep that one in,\u201d he said to the producers behind the camera, before bluntly adding: \u201cShia, get some help.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, Bryan’s comments are presumably in reference to Shia\u2019s troubled history with alcoholism<\/a> and abuse allegations<\/a>. This year, he has been arrested twice<\/a> already, facing three charges of simple battery stemming from altercations in New Orleans, including one incident where he was accused of using anti-gay slurs<\/a> against two men.<\/p>\n Last month, a New Orleans judge ordered Shia to enter rehab as well as to submit to weekly drug tests. During a recent interview<\/a>, the 39-year-old actor denied having a \u201cdrinking problem\u201d and said he\u2019s \u201cnot into\u201d the idea of going to rehab, because: \u201cI don\u2019t think my answers are there.\u201d<\/p>\n Well, with all that context in mind, Bryan\u2019s suggestion that Shia should \u201cget some help\u201d has certainly made some waves online, with many fans left stunned by his, um, sharp delivery.<\/p>\n \u201cOh, this was way more direct than I was expecting,\u201d one Reddit user wrote<\/a>, while someone else commented<\/a> on the \u201cway he tells them to leave this part in.\u201d \u201cHe’s not wrong,\u201d added another.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bryan Cranston Calls Out Shia LaBeouf Content warning: This post briefly discusses alcoholism.
