Bradford Bulls head coach Kurt Kaggerty has been able to reveal some positive injury news despite the club\u2019s mounting casualty list.<\/p>\n
Overseas pair Waqa Blake and Phoenix Steinwede were both confirmed to have suffered 12-week injuries<\/a> when Haggerty spoke to the media earlier this week, whilst plenty of other concerns were also aired.<\/p>\n One of those was around Ryan Sutton and it\u2019s now been confirmed that he will miss Saturday\u2019s game against Wakefield Trinity with the star prop not named in the 21-man squad, with the Bulls forced into six changes due to injury.<\/p>\n Halves Joe Keyes and Rowan Milnes have also dropped out with both men described as \u201850\/50\u2019 when Haggerty spoke on Tuesday, whilst Jayden Nikorima was another to drop out with Haggerty adding that he was \u2018potentially another four weeks away\u2019.<\/p>\n Within the 21-man squad<\/a>, there are no outright half-backs but utility veteran duo Chris Atkin and Joe Mellor could be the men to fill the void which showcases just how deep injuries are running.<\/p>\n Jazz Tevaga\u2019s sin-bin, Hull KR\u2019s underrated star and very early Man of Steel candidates \u2013\u00a0Click here to watch the latest episode of the Serious About Rugby League Show.<\/a><\/p>\n Bradford Bulls get key signing back early<\/p>\n One of the positive updates that Haggerty was able to share was the fact that Luke Hooley\u2019s injury was not as bad as first feared, with previous worst-case scenarios including a six-month lay-off.<\/p>\n Instead, the utility, who can play in the halves, is just \u2018four to six weeks away\u2019 which is still substantil but far from season-ending.<\/p>\n On his delight at that, Haggerty said:\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled. We\u2019ve had a lot of injuries that have always ended up turning into two, three, four months so we\u2019re really happy that it\u2019s not long-term for Luke.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are a little bit short in the outside backs so he\u2019ll certainly be a welcome addition when he comes back.\u201d<\/p>\n Another player who is a welcome addition and perhaps an unexpected one is Dan Russell, who had been handed a 12-week timeline when going down injured in round one but the ex-Warrington Wolves man has recovered quickly.<\/p>\n Haggerty revealed: \u201cWe\u2019ve had a real positivity in his recovery and his rehab with the medical staff. He\u2019s been on an upwards trajectory and we\u2019re really happy with how he\u2019s progressed and he\u2019s come to me with it, saying that he\u2019s progressed nicely and he\u2019s almost ready to play.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything has happened really quickly with Dan and we\u2019re all pretty positive about it.\u201d<\/p>\n There was also positive news around Will Gardiner, who has been named in the squad, though the ex-Hull FC man will need his minutes managing when returning.<\/p>\n \u201cGards in particular is pretty close,\u201d Haggerty noted, adding: \u201cHe\u2019s probably a bit touch and go.
