EXCLUSIVE: This fall, Peacock is taking a dip in\u00a0Crystal Lake, its upcoming slasher series exploring the origins of Jason Voorhees from the famed\u00a0Friday the 13th\u00a0films.<\/p>\n

Based on the slasher series begun by Sean S. Cunningham in 1980,\u00a0Crystal Lake\u00a0follows a doomed small town where camp counselors come to die. It tells the origins of the Voorhees family and leads up to the \u201cbirth\u201d of the ultimate slasher: Jason.<\/p>\n

While Friday the 13th is typically a summer-set franchise, the writers of the 2009 remake revealed they had planned a sequel script set in winter, finally bringing Jason Voorhees into a snowy setting and painting the snow red.<\/p>\n

Dread Central can exclusively reveal that we\u2019ll finally see Jason slashing through the snow in the Crystal Lake series. It\u2019s unclear how this will fit into the story, but here\u2019s hoping it\u2019s for a Christmas episode, eggnog included.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Peacock shared the first teaser photos from Crystal Lake<\/a>, which stars\u00a0Linda Cardellini\u00a0as Pamela Voorhees and includes earlier versions of characters from the original film, such as Crazy Ralph (Nick Cordileone), Claudette (Danielle Kotch), and Barry (Phoenix Parnevik), along with new characters connected to the town\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

Crystal Lake\u00a0has also confirmed the presence of Jason as a child, with\u00a0Callum Vinson\u00a0cast as a young Jason Voorhees.<\/p>\n

Crystal Lake\u00a0is overseen by showrunner\u00a0Brad Caleb Kane, who serves as writer and executive producer. Kane has also worked on the hit HBO prequel series\u00a0It: Welcome to Derry.<\/p>\n

At this moment,\u00a0Crystal Lake\u00a0is set to invite campers back this fall.<\/p>\n
