R&B singer D4vd has been arrested in connection with the killing of a teenage girl whose severely decomposed body was found in his Tesla, Los Angeles police said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The 21-year-old musician, who was born David Anthony Burke, is being held without bail, according to city authorities.<\/p>\n
In September, LAPD detectives were called to a tow yard in Hollywood, after receiving reports of a foul odor emitting from an impounded car that was registered to Burke. The car had been towed from the Hollywood Hills, after appearing to be abandoned.<\/p>\n
Authorities found a dismembered body that was later identified as 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. She had been reported missing in 2024, and was last seen in Lake Elsinore, approximately 60 miles south-east of downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
Los Angeles\u2019s medical examiner\u2019s office determined that Rivas Hernandez had been deceased in the vehicle for \u201can extended period of time before being found\u201d.<\/p>\n
Police said Burke\u2019s case will be presented to the district attorney\u2019s office on Monday.<\/p>\n
In a statement to the New York Times on Thursday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney\u2019s Office acknowledged the arrest and said it expected the case to be presented to the Major Crimes Division.<\/p>\n
\u201cProsecutors will review the facts and evidence to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to file charges,\u201d according to the statement.<\/p>\n
The arrest comes as Burke was facing a grand jury investigation<\/a> related to Rivas Hernandez\u2019s death.<\/p>\n In September, a spokesperson for the singer told NBC News that Burke was \u201cfully cooperating with the authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n
