State pensioners born before 1960 face certain Department for Work and Pensions (DWP<\/a>) benefits being scrapped once they hit the threshold age. The state pension is currently in place for state pensioners aged 66, so born before 1960.<\/p>\n

But there are a string of welfare payments and benefits you can no longer receive once hitting that figure. Turn2us has produced an essential guide to the benefits you cannot claim from the DWP when you reach State Pension age or Pension Credit age.<\/p>\n

When you reach State Pension age you can no longer claim: Income-based Jobseeker\u2019s Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Income Support and Universal Credit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Turn2us warns: “If you live with a partner and one of you is pension age and the other is not yet pension age, benefit entitlement can be complicated.”<\/p>\n

Universal Credit, New Style Jobseeker’s Allowance and Contributory and New Style Employment and Support Allowance stop when you reach State Pension age, the charity says.<\/p>\n

You cannot make a new claim for Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Adult Disability Payment or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) once you have reached State Pension age, either.<\/p>\n

If you were already claiming DLA, Adult Disability Payment or PIP, you can renew the claim even though you are over State Pension age.<\/p>\n

That is as long as you are claiming for the same health conditions and your last claim ended less than one year ago. (DLA claimants who were born before 8 April 1948 will not be transferred to PIP. Other claimants will be transferred to PIP).<\/p>\n

Bereavement Support Payment and Widowed Parent\u2019s Allowance are not available once you reach State Pension age, either.<\/p>\n

But state pensioners and retirees can claim these benefits even if you are over State Pension age: Child Benefit, Carer\u2019s Allowance or Carer Support Payment, Guardian\u2019s Allowance and Statutory Sick Pay.<\/p>\n
