Tyson Fury and Arslanbek Makhmudov have been slapped with an immediate boxing ban following their Netflix clash.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old marked his return to the sport after 15 months away with a dominant points victory over Makhmudov. He claimed a comprehensive triumph on the judges’ scorecards and immediately called out British rival Anthony Joshua<\/a>, who was observing from ringside. Nevertheless, before any potential clash with AJ can come to fruition, Fury and Makhmudov have been barred from competing by the British Boxing Board of Control.<\/p>\n

Every fighter operating<\/a> under BBBoC authority must adhere to a mandatory suspension directly after their contest. Section 5.4(a) of Regulation 5 in the BBBoC’s Rules and Regulations handbook states: “No Boxer shall box in a contest within six clear days from the date of his last contest.<\/p>\n

“The Board or Area Council shall have power to waive this restriction in cases where a late substitute is required but this must be subject to the Boxer having won his last contest within the first two rounds. No boxer shall be permitted to engage in more than one contest on any one day.”<\/p>\n

Fury returned to action following back-to-back defeats to heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk<\/a> – representing his only professional setbacks to date. He has now made it crystal clear that an all-British encounter with Joshua is the only fight that interests him.<\/p>\n

“I challenge you, Anthony Joshua, to fight me next. Do you accept?” Fury announced to the crowd. Yet Joshua refused to confirm whether a clash between the pair was in the pipeline, instead labelling Fury a “clout chaser” and declaring: “You aren’t going to tell me what to do – I’ve been chasing you for 10 years.”<\/p>\n

AJ told Netflix: “We’ll see. I was just in a serious incident, maybe four months ago. So I really need to check out what’s going on in my return to the ring.<\/p>\n

“But I’m here, I’m keeping my eye in the game. There’s real stuff happening in my life. It’s not like I’m ducking no one. I know what my job is.<\/p>\n

“I know what I’m here to do. There’s just real stuff happening in my life that I’ve got to attend to. Once I’m 100 per cent, I’ll be ready.”<\/p>\n

Joshua and Fury were set to meet in 2021, but a US arbitrator determined the Gypsy King was contractually obligated to face Deontay Wilder in a rematch due to a clause inserted into their agreements.<\/p>\n
