<\/p>\nAmman United are on the brink of becoming the best U18s side in Wales<\/p>\n

Shane Williams\u2019 son, Carter, will line up on the wing for Amman United in the WRU U18s Cup final against Pontypool United at the Principality Stadium on Friday evening.<\/p>\n
The Wales legend coaches the side, which also includes two players who featured for Wales U18s at the recent U18s Six Nations<\/a> Festival in France.<\/p>\n Williams balances his role with Amman United alongside his position as head of rugby at Ysgol Dyffryn Amman in Ammanford.<\/p>\n His son Carter is a key part of an Amman United side now on the brink of being crowned the best U18s team in Wales.<\/p>\n “He’s pretty quick, he’s got footwork and he kicks off both feet,” Williams told WalesOnline when asked about his son Carter.<\/p>\n “He’s a bit more of a footballer than I was to be perfectly honest with you. His skillset is definitely better than mine.<\/p>\n “He plays full-back, wing and can also play 10.<\/p>\n “He’s a bit of an all-rounder and a bit like James Hook.<\/p>\n JOIN OUR WALES RUGBY FACEBOOK PAGE Latest news, analysis and much more<\/a><\/p>\n “He also kicks at goal so that’s not a bad person to try to emulate. He’s had a great season.<\/p>\n “He’s had a couple of setbacks over the last couple of years with injury and non-selection.<\/p>\n “I’ve just let him deal with that himself and he’s bounced back bigger, better and stronger.<\/p>\n “He’s had a lovely season so it would be perfect for him and the rest of the boys to finish the season off in style.”<\/p>\n For many of these players, it may be the first and only time they get to play at the Principality Stadium.<\/p>\n Williams says he is proud of the work his side have put in to reach the final, with victories over Glynneath, St Albans and Bargoed along the way.<\/p>\n “I’m very proud. It is only our second year of youth in 10 years so we’ve done really well to rebuild again and get the Amman United youth team going,” said Williams.<\/p>\n “I’ve known a lot of these youngsters since they were U8s so I’m really proud to see how they’ve gone this year.<\/p>\n “It is a special thing. We had a team run yesterday and I told them ‘you are playing in one of the best stadiums in the world.’<\/p>\n “It’s going to feel twice the size of any pitch you’ve ever played on.<\/p>\n “It’s a huge experience for you all and just to go out there and enjoy it don’t come off the field thinking what if.<\/p>\n “Win or lose it doesn’t really matter in retrospect because you’ve done so well to get here.<\/p>\n “I hope they go out with that attitude.<\/p>\n “I want them to enjoy the experience, enjoy the atmosphere, enjoy playing at the best stadium in the world and go out there and play like they have all season.”<\/p>\n Williams is confident in his side\u2019s ability and revealed there will be strong support travelling from the Amman Valley to Cardiff<\/a>.<\/p>\n “We’ve got some good players in this side like Jac Cloke who captained Wales U18s out in Vichy and Cole Lacey who played against France,” he said.<\/p>\n “We’ve also got a couple of Scarlets<\/a> U18s players at the minute.<\/p>\n “My boy Carter is playing while we’ve also got Dai Thomas, Gruff Rees and James Bentley who are very good.<\/p>\n “We’ve also got a lot of other boys who have really put their hands up this year.<\/p>\n
