Wakefield Trinity star Jazz Tevaga will miss the club\u2019s next two games due to suspension \u2013 but he will be out for even longer than that with the knee injury sustained in the incident that earned him a ban.<\/p>\n
Tevaga was handed a ban by the Rugby Football League earlier this week after kicking out at Wigan Warriors winger Liam Marshall during Trinity\u2019s loss in the Challenge Cup last weekend.<\/p>\n
That was after Tevaga\u2019s knee got trapped in a tackle underneath Marshall, with the Wakefield forward in visible discomfort after the incident.<\/p>\n
And while Powell did not want to be drawn on the controversy surrounding Tevaga\u2019s ban, he admitted it was \u2018immaterial\u2019 anyway \u2013 with injury set to rule him out for longer than that. Tevaga is likely to miss at least a month of action as a result.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, it is what it is,\u201d Powell said. \u201cI think he\u2019s going to be out for longer than that with the injury\u00a0that he sustained in the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a four to six week injury, so the ban\u00a0and is kind of irrelevant for Jazz now with that injury. I spoke about it last week and\u00a0moved on from that now. I think (Jay) Pittsy has been doing an awesome job at 13 and he\u2019ll continue\u00a0to do that.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s hyper-extended his knee there. He had a scan, he\u2019s in a brace\u00a0at the moment. It might be four weeks, it might be six weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, there is bad news for one of Wakefield\u2019s outstanding performers in 2026, Isaiah Vagana. He is set to miss the next couple of weeks with two separate injuries.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe played on last week, but he had a bit of a shoulder\u00a0problem and a bit of an ankle problem,\u201d Powell said. He\u2019s had scans. There\u2019s nothing major in either of\u00a0them.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe probably misses a couple of weeks, just to get him sorted.
