{"id":537392,"date":"2026-04-18T07:34:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T07:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/537392\/"},"modified":"2026-04-18T07:34:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T07:34:11","slug":"injured-walrus-makes-a-surprise-visit-to-orkney-pier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/537392\/","title":{"rendered":"Injured walrus makes a surprise visit to Orkney pier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Emma Neave-Webb, from the Orkney Marine Mammal Research Initiative (OMMRI), confirmed there have been some concerns about its injuries. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">On a post on the OMMRI&#8217;s social media, she wrote: &#8220;In situations like this there is often little that can practically be done &#8211; nature generally takes its course and there are obviously difficulties in safely getting close to an animal of this size let alone treating it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;What this does mean is that keeping your distance and allowing the animal to rest undisturbed is even more important than usual.
