An ITV<\/a>\u00a0show hailed as ‘television at its best’ that left viewers sobbing has announced a brand new series that is set to hit screens next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Assembly debuted back in April and features a number of celebrities questioned by a group of people who are autistic, neurodivergent and\/or learning disabled.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It saw several well-known stars including\u00a0actors Danny Dyer<\/a> and David Tennant get quizzed, as well as\u00a0Little Mix<\/a>‘s Jade Thirlwall<\/a> and Gary Lineker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, it has been revealed the show is set to return for a second season after earning plenty of praise from critics with the first.<\/p>\n

Six celebrities will appear on the new season, yet to be announced, and it will consist of seven 30 minute episodes, including an ‘Unseen’ instalment.<\/p>\n

ITV boss Katie Rawcliffe described The Assembly as ‘ITV entertainment at its best’ and said: ‘This really is ITV entertainment at its best: warm, funny, revealing and just that little bit mischievous.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘We’ve got lots of ideas about which famous faces will join for series 2 and we’re eager to see what we’ll learn from the fantastic questions The Assembly will have.’<\/p>\n

While David Smyth, Entertainment Commissioning Editor ITV added: ‘The response to series 1 was thrilling and completely deserved for this fantastic cast and crew.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘There was no doubt in my mind that we needed to do more. I can’t wait to see what questions The Assembly will put to our next group of bold celebrities and what their responses will be…’<\/p>\n

Rockerdale Studios boss, the production company behind the show, Michelle Singer said: ‘Absolutely delighted that we get to make more of these groundbreaking shows of which we’re so proud.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘The cast can’t wait to find out who they’ll be grilling next and I can’t wait for more opportunities to dance on set with them!’<\/p>\n

The first season was a hit with viewers who broke\u00a0down in tears at the show <\/a>and begged bosses for ‘another series and longer episodes’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Many fans flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter<\/a>, to share their thoughts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One said: ‘Just watch #TheAssembly with Danny dyer what a fantastic show, I ended up crying my eyes out, very emotional but fantastic questions it was great.’<\/p>\n

The Assembly first aired on the BBC and the 30-minute pilot starred Michael Sheen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But this show is based on the French show Les Rencontres du Papotin, which was created by Kiosco TV and Quad Ten, and is distributed by Can’t Stop Media.\u00a0<\/p>\n
