Katerina Johnson-Thompson has shared her feelings on her former St Julie’s Catholic High School<\/a> classmate, Jodie Comer<\/a> after being one of the lucky few to watch her award winning portrayal in Prima Facie last month.<\/p>\n

Last month, Jodie Comer reprised her role as Tessa Ensler in the award-winning play, Prima Facie. Written by Australian playwright, Suzie Miller, the show premiered in 2019. When it came to London a few years later, it was nominated for five Olivier Awards, with Jodie Comer picking up Best Actress as well as winning a Tony Award for her performance during it’s time on Broadway in New York.<\/p>\n

The play follows barrister, Tessa, whose life is turned upside down when she is sexually assaulted and her abuser is later not brought to justice.<\/p>\n

A poster for the play outside of the Playhouse highlighted the startling figures regarding sexual assault in the UK. The poster ends with the statement: “25% thought the police wouldn’t do anything about it. 24% thought the police wouldn’t believe them. Something has to change.”<\/p>\n

Her time playing Tessa in the Playhouse last month marks the end of her time in the role, four years after she performed it for the first time in the West End in 2022.<\/p>\n

Speaking on BBC<\/a> Radio Merseyside yesterday with Kev Duala, Katerina Johnson-Thompson said: “The show was incredible, and I’m so happy that she brought Tess back to Liverpool and to the playhouse, and it was a very special evening,”<\/p>\n

She added: “Jodie’s super, super talented, and just to see her do that and stand on that stage, to anybody who’s seen it, they get it, you were just speechless afterwards.”<\/p>\n

Following the end of the play’s run at the Playhouse, Jodie shared her delight. She said: “I can’t think of a better finale to what has been such an incredible and deeply rewarding chapter in my life.”<\/p>\n

It’s not the first time that the celebrities have shown support for one another. Just before the Olympics in 2024, Jodie took to Instagram, writing: “When you give everything to a thing. We love you.”<\/p>\n

Previously speaking to the Athletic, Katerina spoke of her pride at seeing herself and her childhood friend going from strength to strength in their careers.<\/p>\n

She said: “I’ve been a witness to it my whole life and I’m just so happy the world is finally seeing the brilliance we have.
