\n\tCharlize Theron<\/a> recently told The New York Times<\/a> she thought it was \u201cvery reckless\u201d for Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet to claim that \u201cno one cares\u201d about the opera or ballet.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Theron was asked about the major mental challenges of her past roles, the action star said, \u201cDance is probably one of the hardest things I ever did. Dancers are superheroes. What they put their bodies through in complete silence.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tInterviewer Lulu Garcia-Navarro then alluded to Chalamet\u2019s now infamous \u201cballet or opera\u201d statement, to which Theron replied, \u201cOh, boy, I hope I run into him one day. That was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time. But in 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timoth\u00e9e\u2019s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe continued, \u201cAnd we shouldn\u2019t [expletive] on other art forms. Dance taught me discipline. It taught structure. It taught hard work. It taught me to be tough. It\u2019s borderline abusive. There were several times that I had blood infections from blisters that just never healed. And you don\u2019t get a day off. I\u2019m literally talking about bleeding through your shoes. And that\u2019s something that you have to practice every single day, the mind-set of just, you don\u2019t give up, there\u2019s no other option, you keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring \u201cA CNN & Variety Town Hall Event<\/a>,\u201d Chalamet said that he doesn\u2019t want theatrical movie going to end up like \u201cballet or opera,\u201d where artists want to \u201ckeep this thing alive\u201d even though \u201cno one cares\u201d about it anymore.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI admire people, and I\u2019ve done it myself, [who] go on a talk show and go, \u2018Hey, we gotta keep movie theaters alive. You know, we gotta keep this genre alive,\u2019\u201d Chalamet said. \u201cAnd another part of me feels like, if people wanna see it, like \u2018Barbie,\u2019 like \u2018Oppenheimer,\u2019 they\u2019re gonna go see it and go out of their way and be loud and proud about it. And I don\u2019t want to be working in ballet or opera, or things where it\u2019s like, \u2018Hey, keep this thing alive.\u2019 Even though it\u2019s like, no one cares about this anymore. All respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership.\u201d<\/p>\n
