What you might not know is that the Earth may have dozens of hidden oceans of this essential element right beneath our feet, trapped deep inside the Earth’s core.

What has led to the discovery of hydrogen stored away deep in the Earth?

How we have come to learn the pivotal role that hydrogen plays in the cosmos

Hydrogen is, without a doubt, one of the building blocks of the entire universe.

Through extensive research, we have come to learn that hydrogen was the very first element to form. And the fact that the Earth may have hidden oceans of hydrogen just waiting for us to extract it needs to be better understood.

Hydrogen has emerged as a potential future energy resource for humanity as well.

By extracting and converting it into a gas, the hydrogen can then be used to generate energy and subsequently electricity. We can use it to power the cities of tomorrow with no need to rely on oil. The problem is extracting it from the environment.

Hydrogen could help avert a worldwide global climate crisis

The Earth is a delicate creation, and it turns out that it has been hiding hydrogen in abundance all along.

Hydrogen stored deep inside the Earth’s core is a development that needs to be studied. We know that during the early days of life on Earth, some organisms were breathing oxygen long before it filled our atmosphere, but what about the oceans of hydrogen that formed inside Earth all those years ago?

If we were able to extract the hydrogen the Earth is actually hiding from us, the entire energy industry might change overnight.

By reaching deep into the Earth to get at all the sweet hydrogen it has been hiding from us, we could develop a global hydrogen-energy infrastructure that would allow the world to wave goodbye to fossil fuels.

Hydrogen could be our next main energy resource as the world faces increasing issues over oil shortages that have recently emerged in the Middle East.

And as recent experiments have found, the major hindrance that hydrogen has faced as an energy resource may no longer be a problem in the not-too-distant future.

But how much hydrogen is stored away inside the Earth?

A study, “Experimental quantification of hydrogen content in the Earth’s core,” published in Nature, has found the answers to this significantly important question.

The world is awash in hydrogen; we just haven’t found enough of it yet

Some progress has been made in developing hydrogen as a viable source of not just energy, but fuel as well.

Such as several new motorbikes and cars that can run on hydrogen as their main fuel source. Seeing as though the Earth has hidden oceans of hydrogen stored deep inside its core, it’s only a matter of time until we are able to get to it.

Some scientists have dedicated their lives to unearthing the next trove of hidden hydrogen that will reshape the world.

Study indicates that the Earth may be acting like a huge hydrogen reservoir

A recent study published in Nature Communications has indicated that the Earth’s core is likely acting as a major hydrogen reservoir that is holding potentially more mass than 45 oceans of water.

How did the team that led the study make this remarkable discovery?

The study made use of laser-heated diamond anvil cells and atom probe tomography, which suggests that hydrogen played a vital role during the early days of the universe and was incorporated into the Earth’s core billions of years ago.

Some people have constructed homes that utilize hydrogen as the primary energy resource, and with this new discovery, many more of us may see hydrogen becoming our main energy resource in the not-too-distant future.

We have recently learned that the Earth may be hiding oceans of hydrogen.
