Vergil Jr\u2019s dad posted on X less than an hour ago that he hasn\u2019t \u201cheard anything.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Why on Earth would Hearn tell the media that he\u2019s signed Ortiz Jr. to fight his guy, \u2018Boots\u2019 Ennis, for 2026? Is it to get the pressure off himself to show Boots that he\u2019s trying to do something to be useful? Telling the media that a fight with Vergil Jr. has been signed for next year is one way of getting the heat off.<\/p>\n
Ennis would be naively thinking to himself, \u2018My promoter, Hearn, is a real go-getter. I\u2019m glad I re-upped for another hitch with Matchroom.\u2019<\/p>\n
Does Ennis even want the fight? With the talk of him wanting two tune-ups to get comfortable with the 154-lb division, it doesn\u2019t seem believable that he would sign for a risky fight against Vergil Jr.<\/p>\n
