Following Marvel Studios\u2019 revealing the first \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d footage at CinemaCon on Thursday night in Las Vegas, the studio\u2019s chief Kevin Feige has spoken some more about what fans can expect.<\/p>\n

An official synopsis from the company confirms that the film will see \u201cheroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they\u2019ve ever encountered\u201d. Those universes being the X-Men, Fantastic Four and the main MCU one\/<\/p>\n

Talking with EW<\/a>, Feige spoke about the inspiration for the new film, which is believed to be inspired by Jonathan Hickman\u2019s work on the \u201cAvengers\u201d comics:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not talking too much about story, but I think people know that the story of Doomsday is inspired by a very famous comic run in which universes are colliding and earths encounter one another and different timelines encounter one another, and in movie speak, what that allows us to do is get different casts from different franchises.<\/p>\n

Now that they [X-Men] are back home, we thought: We have to utilise them. Deadpool & Wolverine was our first opportunity to do that and touch upon it, and it just felt like an amazing opportunity to pit multiple universes against each other, but you care about all of them. Bringing them all together is what we have tasked the brothers with doing for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Feige also spoke about Magneto actor Sir Ian McKellen\u2019s comments during an interview a few months back, in which he seemed to indicate his character \u201cdestroys New Jersey\u201d.<\/p>\n

Turning to co-director Joe Russo, Feige asked: \u201cDoes he destroy New Jersey in the movie?\u201d to which Russo responded: \u201cI think he might\u2019ve misspoke. I don\u2019t think he destroys New Jersey.\u201d Feige added: \u201cThere\u2019s a New Jersey presence.\u201d Nothing further on that front.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Fandango<\/a>, he was asked how \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d connects to \u201cAvengers: Secret Wars\u201d and says:<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople familiar with the comic stories see that they will relate. They relate in a very different way than \u2018Infinity War\u2019 and \u2018Endgame.\u2019 I think people are expecting a similar connection, and while one certainly does lead into the other, it\u2019s in a very different way. I will say that \u2018Secret Wars\u2019 is as ambitious a project as we\u2019ve ever embarked on.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also reportedly confirmed that some of the sets from the \u201cX-Men\u201d films were reused in \u2018Doomsday\u2019 and that there were days of filming where 30\u201335 actors were on set at the same time.<\/p>\n
