While that update was packed with features, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/services-and-software\/ios-26-4-brings-these-fun-new-emoji-to-your-iphone\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"c-shortcodeLink c-shortcodeLink-active\" target=\"_blank\">new emoji<\/a> and video podcasts, the latest update is much smaller and Apple writes it&#8217;s focused on bug fixes. According to an <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/125073\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">Apple support document<\/a>, updating to iOS 26.4.1 will automatically enable the security feature\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/services-and-software\/how-to-enable-stolen-device-protection-on-your-iphone-in-a-few-easy-steps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"c-shortcodeLink c-shortcodeLink-active\" target=\"_blank\">Stolen Device Protection<\/a> on some iPhones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech-tips\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"c-shortcodeImage_imageContainer\">  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" alt=\"CNET Tech Tips badge; click here for more\" height=\"616.8551448551449\" width=\"768\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"u-speakableText-p2\">You can download iOS 26.4.1 now by going to Settings and tapping General. Next, select Software Update, tap Update Now and follow the prompts on your screen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This update provides bug fixes for your iPhone,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/123075\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">Apple wrote<\/a> in the update&#8217;s release notes. While it&#8217;s unclear which bugs iOS 26.4.1 fixes, the update does appear to enable Stolen Device Protection on iPhones that don&#8217;t have the security feature on already.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Stolen Device Protection adds a layer of security when your iPhone is away from familiar locations, such as home or work, and helps protect your accounts and personal information in case your iPhone is ever stolen,&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/120340\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">Apple<\/a>\u00a0wrote online.<\/p>\n<p>The company usually publishes common vulnerabilities and exposure entries alongside updates that include security patches, but Apple didn&#8217;t publish\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/100100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">any such notes for iOS 26.4.1<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not uncommon for Apple to publish an update without CVE entries. The company didn&#8217;t publish any CVE entries for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/services-and-software\/apple-releases-ios-26-3-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"c-shortcodeLink c-shortcodeLink-active\" target=\"_blank\">iOS 26.3.1<\/a>, either.<\/p>\n<p>Even if you already have Stolen Device Protection enabled on your iPhone, you should still download the update to make sure your device has the most up-to-date fixes and patches.
