Comedy legends Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are now grandfathers-in-law as their two eldest children have welcomed their first baby together<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Eddie confirmed Saturday that his son Eric and Lawrence\u2019s daughter Jasmin had a baby girl named Ari Skye<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just had a baby girl,\u201d Murphy told E! News at the American Film Institute achievement award ceremony April 18. \u201cThey just had her two weeks ago, or a week ago. Yeah, Ari Skye.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans were stunned when the couple announced their engagement<\/a> back in November 2024, making Eddie and Martin \u2014 who starred together in comedies Boomerang (1992) and Life (1999) \u2014 part of the same family.<\/p>\n

Speaking about becoming a grandfather, Eddie said that he didn\u2019t have any advice for the new parents, adding: \u201cYou know, your kids don’t go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stuff you be saying, they don’t even pay that s*** no mind,\u201d he quipped. \u201cThey watch and see what you do. So, I don’t give a lot of advice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jasmin, 30, and Eric, 36, announced they were welcoming their first baby together after tying the knot in a private wedding ceremony in May 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you Jesus for the greatest gift,\u201d the couple captioned a February Instagram post featuring a black-and-white photo of Eric cradling Jasmin\u2019s baby bump.<\/p>\n

At the time, Martin shared that he was elated about being promoted to granddad status.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a blessing to start the day!\u201d the comedian wrote on Instagram. \u201cMy heart is overflowing with love and gratitude after the announcement of my first grandchild!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWatching [Jasmin] and [Eric] begin this journey into parenthood means everything to me,\u201d the 61-year-old continued. \u201cFamily is everything \u2014 and this moment is nothing less than a blessing from God. Welcome to the next generation!\u201d<\/p>\n

Eric is the eldest of Eddie\u2019s 10 children, while Jasmin is also the eldest of Martin\u2019s three daughters.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Jasmin revealed that it was her uncle who introduced her to Eric, not their famous fathers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t even our dads \u2014 and they\u2019ve done two movies together,\u201d she told InTouch. \u201cThey\u2019re friends. I don\u2019t even know. It\u2019s crazy.:<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we met through my uncle, and we became really good friends. We bonded on a lot of things. Obviously, we have similar backgrounds, so we understood each other on a certain level,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Eddie and Martin have made several public jokes over the years about the union of their two children, with Eddie teasing his former co-star that he would have to pay for the wedding as the father of the bride.<\/p>\n

“We thought it was cool,\u201d Eddie previously told CBS Sunday Mornings<\/a>. \u201cThey’re both beautiful. They look amazing together. And it’s funny, everybody’s like, \u2018What! That baby gonna be funny.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, Eddie was honored with the AFI lifetime achievement award <\/a>and drew a standing ovation onstage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a special moment. I wish y\u2019all could feel what I\u2019m feeling, see what I\u2019m seeing. I almost teared up. I\u2019m going to get backstage and cry,\u201d he told the crowd.<\/p>\n

His contribution to entertainment was celebrated by his contemporaries, including Spike Lee, who said during the presentation: \u201cEddie made us laugh and made our nation feel better.\u201d<\/p>\n
