A Bristol granddad performed a heartwarming duet with his grandson, wowing the judges during Saturday’s episode of Britain’s Got Talent. Nine-year-old Lucciano took to the stage in front of Simon Cowell et al alone, but in an adorable surprise twist he invited grandpa Frankie Johns, who was sitting in the audience, to join him in a rendition of One Direction’s hit History.<\/p>\n
Frankie and Lucciano dazzled the panel, securing four ‘yeses’ and a place in the next round. They are competing for the life-changing sum of \u00a3250,000 in prize money and a coveted place at this year\u2019s Royal Variety Performance.<\/p>\n
Lucciano has Frankie to thank for his love of singing; Frankie performs in care homes and Lucciano would often go along and sing with him while his grandparents were looking after him as his parents worked.<\/p>\n

“I like singing with granddad, so I really would like it if granddad could sing with me today,” he said, before the audience roared Frankie onto the stage. The visibly emotional grandfather gave Lucciano a huge hug before hosts Ant and Dec brought him out his own microphone.<\/p>\n
“I was quite comfortable sat there (in the audience),” he said, to laughs from the crowd.<\/p>\n
“How often do you ever get the chance to sing with your grandson in front of some lovely people and yourselves,” he told the judges.<\/p>\n
“He’s the most kindest loving adorable little boy you could ever want to meet.”<\/p>\n
“That is what love is,” an impressed Simon Cowell said.<\/p>\n
Lucciano is no slouch, winning young performer of the year at the 2025 Children of Wales Awards. The dynamic duo had the audience and judges eating out of the palms of their hands as they belted out their chosen song.<\/p>\n

When their moment was over, Frankie was nearly in tears as the pair received a standing ovation from the judges and the crowd.<\/p>\n
“What is there not to love about this,” said Alesha Dixon.<\/p>\n
Simon Cowell described Lucciano as one of the cutest kids that had ever appeared on the show, as the judges unanimously decided to send him through to the next round.<\/p>\n
“You brought the house down,” Amanda Holden told them.<\/p>\n
In 2017, Frankie completed another absolutely mammoth challenge as he collected one million pennies<\/a> in aid of veterans’ charity Help For Heroes.<\/p>\n
