Netflix<\/a> viewers are heaping praise on a \u2018top-class\u2019 crime<\/a> drama after the final series left them in tears.<\/p>\n

The Law According to\u00a0Lidia Poet premiered in February 2023 to a roaring reception, boasting a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>. <\/p>\n

A second season followed in 2024 with another seriously impressive audience rating of 91% and reviews that declared it was able to \u2018defy the sophomore slump\u2019.<\/p>\n

So, when the third season dropped this week, it\u2019s fair to say expectations were high \u2013 thankfully, it appears to have delivered.<\/p>\n

With each season comprising six episodes, the plot is based on a true story and chronicles\u00a0Italy\u2019s first qualified female lawyer, who is banned from practising because of her sex.<\/p>\n

Set in the 19th century and battling misogyny, she investigates\u00a0homicides.<\/p>\n

Lidia Poet is played by Matilda De Angelis, a 30-year-old Italian actress and singer whose past credits include the films Italian Race and Rose Island.<\/p>\n

She also starred in the smash hit TV series The Undoing alongside Hugh Grant <\/a>and Nicole Kidman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Her performance as Lidia Poet has been lauded since the show first landed, as social media<\/a> users have repeatedly urged one another to get on board.<\/p>\n

Previously, it\u2019s been hailed as a \u2018little gem\u2019, with audiences saying they were \u2018gripped\u2019.<\/p>\n

Others described the show as \u2018smart\u2019 and \u2018feisty\u2019, while TV writer\u00a0Lacy Baugher Milas\u00a0called it her \u2018favourite TV find\u2019 of recent months.<\/p>\n

\u2018As heroines go, Lidia is utterly delightful: smart, confident, funny, and charmingly modern, she\u2019s a woman who knows what she wants and is unwilling to settle for anything less,\u2019 she penned in a review for Paste Magazine<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u2018The utterly compelling Lidia \u2014 and the standout performance from De Angelis\u2014 makes the show such tremendous fun to watch, that it\u2019s impossible not to want to watch this story\u2019s familiar beats play out in another language,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the internet, Reddit<\/a> users have been eating up season 3, although they are admittedly gutted that there won\u2019t be any more.<\/p>\n

\u2018Loved season 3! The production, acting and script all top class\u2019, wrote @Affectionate_Bake_63.<\/p>\n

@DanyeelsAnulmint said they are \u2018sad it\u2019s the final season\u2019, while @iamvocaloid revealed the closing scene in particular made them \u2018cry\u2019<\/p>\n

While bittersweet, @Fitzfuzzington praised how the story \u2018wrapped up nicely\u2019, and, after binge-watching, @Warm_Trash_7826 already plans to \u2018watch again in a couple of months\u2019.<\/p>\n

It was confirmed last month that season 3 would be the final chapter of The Law According to Lidia Poet, but Netflix vowed to bring a conclusive end to \u2018her fight for justice and equality\u2019.<\/p>\n

So far, fans have watched Lidia solve various types of murders, including that of a ballerina, who turns up dead before her alleged stalker is accused of killing her.<\/p>\n

She also investigates the death of a wealthy businessman who mysteriously dies following a s\u00e9ance at a wild party.<\/p>\n

Season 3 picks up in April 1887, at which point her brother, Enrico (Pier Luigi Pasino), has become a member of parliament, campaigning to pass a law that would officially allow his sister to practise.<\/p>\n

In her own work, the season\u2019s main legal battle turns personal as Lidia\u2019s best friend, Grazia Fontana (Liliana Bottone), is accused of murdering her husband. <\/p>\n

Fighting her corner, Lidia must win over an all-male jury, arguing self-defence in what seems an impossible task.<\/p>\n

As for her own love life, Lidia continues her relationship with Pierluigi Fourneau (Gianmarco Saurino), who is also prosecuting in the murder trial.<\/p>\n

The court case attracts journalist Jacopo Barberis (Eduardo Scarpetta) back to Turin, too, stirring up old feelings and reigniting romantic tension between him and Lidia \u2013 but which man will she choose?<\/p>\n
