\n Speaker of the House Lindsay Hoyle removed Your Party MP Sultana from the House after she would not withdraw the claim that Starmer is a \u201cbare-faced liar\u201d.\n<\/p>\n

\n As she did not leave the chamber when he asked her to, Hoyle \u201cnamed\u201d her \u2013 a motion suspending her from participation in the proceedings. This means she is now suspended from the House for five days and will also lose pay as a result.\n<\/p>\n

\n The last MPs to be \u201cnamed\u201d and suspended from the Commons<\/a> were Alba Party MPs Neale Hanvey and Kenny MacAskill<\/a>, who held a protest during Prime Minister\u2019s Questions in favour of Scottish independence<\/a> in July 2022.\n<\/p>\n

\n Starmer had told MPs it was \u201cstaggering\u201d that he was not told Mandelson had failed vetting<\/a> checks and acknowledged Parliament should have known about it \u201ca long time ago\u201d.\n<\/p>\n

\n The Prime Minister said Foreign Office officials had approved Mandelson\u2019s developed vetting status, enabling him to see secret information as ambassador to the US, despite the recommendation of security experts not to grant clearance.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n As MPs put questions to Starmer, Sultana said: \u201cWe all know that the Prime Minister appointed Mandelson because he owes his job to him. He appointed him, he defended him, and now he claims to know nothing.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cHe is gaslighting the nation. So let\u2019s call this out for what it is. The Prime Minister is a bare-faced liar.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Hoyle said: \u201cLeave now, I\u2019ll name you otherwise, I\u2019d go now if I were you.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019ve given the option to name. I\u2019d leave if I were you, very quickly.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Sultana attempted to interject and said: \u201cI have a duty to the House to tell the truth.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Hoyle held a vote, brought by government whip Gen Kitchen, which said: \u201cI beg to move that Zarah Sultana be suspended from the services of the House.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n MPs voted in favour.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cLeave, I\u2019m sorry you\u2019ve done this, I really am,\u201d Hoyle said.\n<\/p>\n

\n It comes after Reform UK MP Lee Anderson was also sent out for accusing the Prime Minister of lying and refusing to withdraw it.\n<\/p>\n

\n Anderson, the MP for Ashfield, said: \u201cThe problem the Prime Minister\u2019s got is no-one believes him. The public don\u2019t believe him. The MPs on this side of the House don\u2019t believe him. His own gullible backbenchers don\u2019t believe him.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cSo does the Prime Minister agree with me, he\u2019s been lying?\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Hoyle intervened to say: \u201cSorry, we don\u2019t use those words, and I\u2019m sure the member\u2019s withdrawn it.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Anderson replied: \u201cMr Speaker, I have the greatest respect for you and your office, but I will not withdraw it. That man couldn\u2019t lie straight in bed.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Hoyle said: \u201cMr Anderson, you\u2019ll have to leave.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Later, Starmer denied misleading the House of Commons.\n<\/p>\n

\n Scottish Tory MP John Lamont said: \u201cThe Prime Minister said various things over the course of the last few weeks and months, which have now turned out not to be true around the vetting process of Peter Mandelson.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cDoes the Prime Minister accept that he inadvertently misled the House of Commons?\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n Starmer replied: \u201cNo, I did not mislead the House of Commons.
