There’s no love lost between Patrice Evra and his former rival following the latest comments from the Manchester United legend\"Patrice<\/p>\n

Patrice Evra insisted that Theo Walcott should never be on TV again after the ex-Arsenal star compared the current Gunners side to the Manchester United<\/a> team of 2008.<\/p>\n

Walcott – who spent 12 years at the Emirates Stadium – stunned football viewers back in January when appearing as a pundit for Amazon Prime <\/a>alongside Wayne Rooney<\/a> and presenter Gabby Logan.<\/p>\n

The trio were discussing Arsenal’s Champions League<\/a> clash at the San Siro against Inter Milan when the former England winger asked his ex-international team-mate in Rooney on who would win between Arteta’s current team compared to United’s team from 18 years ago that won the Premier League<\/a> and Champions League.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old asked Rooney: “Would your ’08 team compete, well you would compete against this team, but how does it compare to your 2008 team? Which by the way, was probably the best team that I’ve ever played against. This [Arsenal] squad against that one.”<\/p>\n

Without missing a beat, the United icon simply answered: “We’d batter them.” His swift response drew laughter from Walcott and Logan before a smiling Rooney added: “I think we would, I think we would.”<\/p>\n

Almost three months since the live encounter, Evra appeared on the Rio Ferdinand Presents<\/a> podcast alongside former team-mate Ryan Giggs and was asked about Walcott’s comments by Ferdinand.<\/p>\n

The ever-entertaining Evra was damning in his verdict as he went as far to call Arsenal fans “delusional”. The Frenchman said: “No, I\u2019m leaving. That\u2019s the problem with Arsenal. Now he\u2019s comparing this team with our 2008 team.<\/p>\n

“I think he\u2019s a menace for society. He should not be on TV. He\u2019s dangerous for the kids. That\u2019s why I keep saying they are delusional. I know I talk with my heart, but they are delusional. This is disrespect. He should never be on TV again when he starts asking questions like that.”<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s season has threatened to unravel over the past month<\/a> where they’ve lost in the EFL Cup final to Manchester City<\/a> and eliminated from the FA Cup<\/a> by Championship side Southampton.<\/p>\n

The Gunners fell to City again on Sunday in a 2-1 defeat <\/a>in a crucial blow to their title challenge as Rooney claimed the Arsenal supporters must get behind the team in order for the north London side to claim their first league title in 22 years.<\/p>\n

Speaking on BBC Sport<\/a>, he said: “I think for Arsenal to win the league, the Arsenal fans need to play their part. I thought in the Bournemouth game, the fans let them down. I said this last year as well in the Champions League.<\/p>\n

“I thought the Arsenal fans were excellent against Real Madrid and really helped them, but I don\u2019t think they turned up against PSG, and they went out. So, I think they need to get behind the team a little bit more, support them, but understand that, you know, they might lose games at times.<\/p>\n

“I think that the fans need to be better for the players and back the players a little bit more because the players that will have hurt them (booing vs Bournemouth), Arsenal players 100%.”<\/p>\n
