There are some incredibly emotional scenes ahead in EastEnders<\/a> next week as\u00a0 Nigel Bates<\/a> (Paul Bradley<\/a>)\u00a0 final storyline reaches a heartbreaking conclusion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fans of the BBC soap will see the beloved character passes away in forthcoming scenes, as Grant Mitchell<\/a> (Ross Kemp<\/a>) stages a last-minute return to Walford to say goodbye to his best friend.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As the residents of Albert Square gather to say their goodbyes, Nigel continues to cling on for his loved ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sadly, however, he dies peacefully, bringing an end to one of the most heartbreaking storylines in EastEnders history.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Eventually, news of his passing spreads across the Square, as everyone decides they need to do something to celebrate Nigel\u2019s wife Julie Bates (Karen Henthorn)<\/a> and his best friend Phil Mitchell<\/a> (Steve McFadden<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The pair announce their plans to celebrate Nigel in the wake of their loss, and Julie is taken aback by how quickly the community has come together.<\/p>\n

However, a struggling Phil is not able to keep it together, prompting worry from his brother Grant and close pal Linda Carter<\/a> (Kellie Bright<\/a>) as Phil struggles to keep it together.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The news is set to spread shockwaves across Walford as the locals mourn one of their own.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The conclusion of the storyline will bring to an end Paul Bradley\u2019s year-long return to the Walford soap after a 25-year gap.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ross, who plays Grant, recently said of his comeback: \u2018As well as exploring Grant\u2019s attempts to reconnect with his son Mark, it\u2019s especially an honour to be part of Nigel\u2019s powerful ongoing dementia storyline, which holds deep personal meaning for me due to a close family connection in real life.<\/p>\n

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 27th April at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
