Jon Rahm has revealed he nearly got involved in a heated argument with his caddie before the second round of the 2026 Masters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rahm<\/a> was in danger of missing the cut<\/a> at the first men’s major of the year at Augusta National.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite being one of the pre-tournament favourites, he opened with a 78, matching the worst score of his career in a major championship.<\/p>\n

It left the Spaniard had little chance of winning the green jacket for a second time, but he responded with rounds of 70, 73 and 68 to climb the leaderboard and finish in a share of 38th.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Following his final round at Augusta, Rahm rode the momentum into LIV’s stop in Mexico City last week and romped<\/a> to a six-shot victory over his compatriot David Puig at Club de Golf Chapultepec.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It capped off a turbulent week<\/a> for the league amid rumours the league will fold at the end of 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rahm, though, gave his long-time caddie Adam Hayes some credit for his second win of the campaign and fourth overall since he joined the PIF-backed breakaway in December 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the two-time major champ, he almost came to blows with Hayes before the second round at Augusta.<\/p>\n

“Adam<\/a> and I nearly got in a heated argument on Saturday on the putting green at Augusta when he was trying to explain something and I wasn’t fully understanding,” Rahm said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Once it clicked what he was trying to say and what I needed to work on on that range session Saturday afternoon, it was so much better. Sunday at Augusta I played much better golf, and it’s only gotten a little bit easier since then.<\/p>\n

“But it’s not always the easiest to have a swing thought while playing, but this one obviously seemed to work out.”<\/p>\n

Rahm stopped short of explaining what clicked. Before the tournament began, he was asked the same question but told the reporter it was “too complicated” to answer.<\/p>\n

“There’s a lot of things that I could have done better,” said Rahm. \u00a0“It would be too complicated an answer to give you, to be honest.”<\/p>\n

Rahm’s victory at LIV Golf saw him jump inside the top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking<\/a> for the first time in more than two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It also saw him extend his lead over Bryson DeChambeau in LIV’s individual standings<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

DeChambeau didn’t appear to enjoy his week in Mexico at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One spectator filmed him moaning<\/a> about the state of the playing conditions on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ahead of the final round, the 31-year-old American withdrew from the tournament, citing a wrist injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I experienced some discomfort in my wrist during yesterday’s round and have decided to withdraw from the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City to prevent further injury,” DeChambeau said in a social media post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Not how I wanted this week to go.”<\/p>\n

LIV Golf will play their seventh event of the campaign in Virginia over 7-10 at Trump National Golf Club in Washington.\u00a0<\/p>\n
