The Rugby Football League has appointed Rhodri Jones interim chief executive as it continues the process of finding a permanent CEO.<\/p>\n

Abi Ekoku held the role on an interim basis but left to join St Helens<\/a> as their CEO in April.<\/p>\n

Jones has held his current role as RL Commercial’s managing director since January 2023 and prior to that had been chief commercial officer for Super League (Europe).<\/p>\n

“It’s a privilege to step into this role at such an important moment for the sport,” Jones said.<\/p>\n

“The 2026 season has started strongly and that momentum must continue.<\/p>\n

“I’m focused on providing stability, supporting our stakeholders and teams, and ensuring we continue to deliver for our fans, partners and wider community, whilst the search process for the new permanent CEO of the RFL concludes.”<\/p>\n

In a statement, the RFL said Jones would act as interim chief executive “until the process to appoint a permanent CEO is concluded”.<\/p>\n

“Rhodri’s appointment gives the organisation continuity and stability, whilst we complete the search process for the new permanent CEO of the RFL which we expect to conclude over the next couple of months,” RFL chair Nigel Wood added.<\/p>\n
