{"id":543390,"date":"2026-04-21T19:50:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T19:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/543390\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T19:50:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T19:50:09","slug":"first-turbine-of-wind-farm-off-suffolk-has-record-breaking-blades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/543390\/","title":{"rendered":"First turbine of wind farm off Suffolk has record-breaking blades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The turbines stand about 262m (860ft) tall and have a rotor diameter of 236m (775ft). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cp91l218e5no\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Work to install the foundations began last year.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">SPR says, when complete, East Anglia Three will produce 1.4 gigawatts (GW) of electricity, enough for more than 1.3 million homes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It is aiming to have East Anglia Three operational in 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Charlie Jordan, SPR chief executive, said: &#8220;This is a defining moment as we celebrate and accelerate the deployment of homegrown renewable energy at scale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;East Anglia Three will be the biggest and most powerful offshore wind farm in our portfolio. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;That means billions of pounds invested in UK and global supply chains; thousands of jobs supported during construction; more than a hundred long-term roles created in the East of England; and greater energy security, with more clean power coming onto the grid than ever before.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The turbines stand about 262m (860ft) tall and have a rotor diameter of 236m (775ft).
