\n Hollywood star and Wiltshire homeowner\u00a0Eddie\u00a0Redmayne\u00a0has been handed a \u00a31,530 court bill after he was caught breaking the 20mph speed limit on the A4 in London\u2019s Earl\u2019s Court.\n<\/p>\n
\n Redmayne, whose Wiltshire move was revealed in 2025 when he filed to make a series of major changes to a \u00a34 million property he had bought in the south of the county, faced a criminal prosecution from the Metropolitan Police over the offence.\n<\/p>\n
\n Court papers show\u00a0Redmayne\u2019s\u00a0Audi was clocked by a speed camera at 28mph as he drove towards West Kensington at just before 11am on October 14 last year.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Day of the Jackal star admitted being the speeding driver, but submitted the form to the police too late to avoid a criminal prosecution.\n<\/p>\n
\n He pleaded guilty to the offence, and was sentenced last Wednesday at a private court hearing to a \u00a31,000 fine.\n<\/p>\n
\n Redmayne\u00a0received three penalty points on his licence, and must also pay \u00a3130 in costs and a \u00a3400 victim surcharge.\n<\/p>\n
\n The actor, who won an Academy Award in 2015 for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, was not required to attend court, as his case was dealt with at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court through the Single Justice Procedure.\n<\/p>\n

\n Kensington and Chelsea Council announced in 2020 that it planned to introduce a 20mph limit to all its residential roads.\n<\/p>\n
\n The A4 Cromwell Road, where\u00a0Redmayne\u00a0was caught out, became a 20mph limit in autumn 2023 as part of a Transport for London initiative to lower speeds on 65 kilometres of London\u2019s roads.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Met submitted evidence including an image of\u00a0Redmayne\u2019s\u00a0speeding Audi, and said the star had been sent a notice of intended prosecution on October 20 last year, six days after the offence.\n<\/p>\n
