Hull KR boss Willie Peters will be checking on the fitness of Oliver Gildart before he names his squad to face Bradford Bulls this weekend.<\/p>\n
Gildart limped out of Rovers’ win over Toulouse Olympique last weekend with an ankle injury and speaking after the game, Peters labelled him a doubt for the clash with Bradford.<\/p>\n
How he has recovered this week is yet to be confirmed, with Peters due to speak to the press on Thursday afternoon, but if the centre isn’t deemed to be ready to feature at Odsal, a change in the backline will be needed.<\/p>\n
And, the Robins boss would have a number of options to mull over if that was the case. Here’s a look at five who could slot into the back line should Gildart miss out.<\/p>\n
Noah Booth<\/p>\n
Booth can probably be considered the leading candidate to replace Gildart in the event of an injury at present. The 21-year-old impressed when he had the opportunity to play last season, scoring seven tries in six games and his double helped Rovers get over the line to seal the League Leaders’ Shield against Warrington Wolves last September.<\/p>\n
He’s had to be patient this season and while he did score in the win over Lock Lane, his only other appearance came off the bench in the win over St Helens last month. However, Peters knows he can trust Booth to do the job and he might be his first port of call should a decision need to be made.<\/p>\n
Karl Lawton<\/p>\n
Lawton’s versatility was one of the major reasons why Peters moved to bring the Australian in over the off-season and he has been used in a number of positions so far across the pack. However, he has been known to play at centre over his career and he had a stint in the position as a younger man.<\/p>\n
Louix Gorman<\/p>\n
Opportunities have been few and far between for Gorman at Craven Park in recent seasons, with the centre failing to make a first-team appearance in red and white since his debut in 2023. However, he has played a number of games out on loan, and he had stints with Featherstone Rovers, London Broncos and Salford Red Devils last season.<\/p>\n
He scored five tries for London in the Championship, while he also caught the eye in Salford colours, demonstrating that he is ready to make the step up to Super League when called upon.<\/p>\n
Jack Broadbent<\/p>\n
Broadbent is currently at full-back and let’s be honest, it’s unlikely that Peters will move him from there to fill any hole in the outside backs.<\/p>\n
However, Rovers have just signed Ryan Hampshire on a short-term deal and that does give Peters another full-back option should he be tempted to shift the former Castleford Tigers man into the line. Hampshire has been playing for Rovers’ reserves in recent weeks and he’ll be itching for the opportunity to play in Super League once more.<\/p>\n
James Batchelor<\/p>\n
Batchelor is settled in the back-row and he’s performing well, but notably he was one of the men asked to fill in at centre last season when Gildart went down and he even played the Challenge Cup final in the outside backs.<\/p>\n
